I had a similar problem and it was a combination of problems. Check the linkages and tie rods also your wheels for balancing and alignment. Hope this helps.
iginition time is set too late, ********, readjust.2) spark plugs are fouled or incorrect gapped. 3) distributors contct poits are dirty or pitted. God bless you
1. out of balance tire because it sounds speed spacific.
2. worst of all! Loose lug nuts or possibly loose spindle nut. (you will need to lift the wheel off the ground to tell)
3. worn linkages i.e. ball joints, steering linkage, anything that would allow play in the front wheels.
The part you are looking at is the steering damper. It can be damaged by repeated shaking but won't cause it. Likely the condition you have is caused by bad lower ball joints. The lowers have no grease fittings and as such, fail earlier than the uppers. There are other causes but happen less often. Your track bar mount can wear oblong, overall cumulative wear of all front end parts can produce enough side to side play to do that or the wheels may not be torqued down exactly to specifications. In extreme cases where all is good but the shaking continues, you can have additional caster adjustment added to the alignment specs. I am assuming that your tires are properly balanced?
Check your steering stability bar I had the same problem and it turned
out that I had bent that bar.
The death wobble is basically when you are driving your lifted jeep down
the road and the front end starts to shake violently. It can happen at
virtually any speed, though mostly above 40 mph or so, and is a
frightening experience, especially for those witnessing it for the first
time. Now it doesn’t throw you off the road or anything … the front end
just shakes. And the only way to stop it is to slow down and pull over.
So it wasn’t that hard to get used to at first. But as it happened more
and more, it seemed to get more and more out of control.
I had the exact same same issue with my 03 sahara at the exact same speed and it was a huge build up of dirt in the rims (live on gravel road)that may be the issue or you may have a badly balanced tire or a bad front end part(s) ball joint tie rod etc...... hope this helps!
