Transmission modulator 1996 4wd Ford explorer locstion

I think this is an electronic trans with no modulator. Overdrive is really not a gear but rather torque converter lockup. Torque converter may have completely failed.

Overdrive light flashing

Sounds like a speed sensor is not letting the torque converter go into lock up mode. This condition will affect fuel consumption. Check OBDII for speed sensor fault.

Overdrive light flashes

By the sounds of it that could be the solenoid that operates the overdrive that has malfunctioned or there's a bad earth or a broken fuse - its electrical though that's for sure -- you may need to see a mechanic for that one unless your good at diy :)
Hope you get it going :)

1997 chevy silverado pu 4x4 keeps blowing eng 1 fuse runs for about 15 seconds when fuse blows engine almost quits but keeps running and runs fine. The transmission jerks in overdrive going down the road...

ENG 1 - 20 amp fuse - under hood fuse Box . This fuse powers the O2 sensors heater circuits , Emission - purge an vent solenoids , mass air flow sensor , camshaft position sensor an A.I.R. intake recirculation relay - if your vehicle has it , L31 only
I would look for wires for o2 sensor melted on a exhaust pipe or manifold . Isn't your check engine light on ?

The "off" light for the overdrive shut off flashes.

the light is flashing to alert you to the fact that a fault has been detected in the transmission, the most common is excessive slippage detected by the torque speed sensor as compared to the outshaft shaft speed sensor, U will need to have the system tested for the stored trouble code that is set when this OD light blinks.

Hard shift and blinking overdrive

The blinking overdrive button is telling u that a serious fault has occurred in the electronic controls or a mechanical fault such as excess slippage is occurring.
