If the chip or the "security" system for that matter is not working, you will see a light on the dash somewhere that says SECURITY. This light means that the key, ignition or TDM (theft deterrent module) is not working properly and shutting the starter off. Here is a link that explains the situation. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

How can I start my 2005 Ford focus SE without the key chip

I'm sorry, but it is not possible to start a 2005 Ford Focus SE without the key chip. The key chip, also known as a transponder key, is a security feature that prevents unauthorized access to the vehicle. Without the key chip, the car's engine immobilizer system will prevent the car from starting.

If you do not have the original key with the chip, you will need to obtain a new key with a chip from a Ford dealership or a qualified automotive locksmith. They will be able to cut a new key to match the locks on your car and program the new key chip to work with your car's immobilizer system.

Please note that attempting to start the car without the key chip or trying to bypass the immobilizer system may cause damage to the car's electrical system and could potentially lead to other issues. It is important to have a proper working key chip to ensure the safe and reliable operation of your vehicle.

Will a passlock bypass system work if my sterring column will not lock

The steering wheel lock is simply a physical lock that engages and disengages when you remove the key and turn the wheel. It has nothing to do with the electronic portion of the passkey system.. The transducer reads the chip in the key and sends the proper code to the vehicles pcm/bcm to start the car. The car is still electronically protected from someone trying to hot wire or start your car with the improper key. The steering lock is an additional level of security for the vehicle.

The odometer quit working doesnt light up when turn the key forward or start the car someone suggested chip in key but my car doesnt have one

No the key has nothing to do with this. You have a failed display in the instrument cluster. You will need to remove it from the car and send it out for repair. Cost is about $200.00 to repair the problem.

The battery in the car became bad , having to jump start it all the time, we lost our flip key with all the electronic buttons and now have a regular key, we bought new battery and changed it , now when i...

You lost the key with the chip in it, you have to get a new key with a chip and get it programmed. I'm not sure what all is involved, but that is the idea. I think Walmart has the key, but they might not be able to program it.

Security light comes on when trying to start

THE ONLY RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE THE KEY CYLINDER WITH A NEW ONE. LOCAL REPAIR GUY IS CORRECT. IF THE TINY SENSOR IN THE KEY SWITCH DOESN'T RECIEVE THE EXACT RESISTANCE FROM THE CHIP IN THE KEY, IT WON'T START. THE TINY SENSOR IS PART OF THE KEY CYLINDER, THAT CANNOT BE BYPASSED. HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. BEST OF LUCK. ANY MORE QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK AWAY.

1998 Chev Malibu starts then stalls

The most likely cause for the problem you are describing is the anti-theft system. GM calls it a passlock system. Your car has a 'key-reader' mounted on the ignition lock cylinder (inside the steering columnm, or inside the dash, depending on where your key goes). This 'key-reader' sends out a signal to the body control module indicating that the proper key is in the ignition. Note: this style antitheft system does not have 'chip' in the key. These key-readers fail frequently and send a an incorrect singal the the module, where the car will start and run for a few seconds, then stall. An easy verification of this problem is to watch for your security light to be flashing somewhere on your dash. The passlock cylinder is only available from the dealer, and while it is a fairly easy part for someone like me to change, I do not recommend it for someone who is not a mechanic. Additionally, even if you do change the passlock cylinder, you have to perform a re-learn procedure or the car will never start. This probably isn't the answer you wanted to hear, but better that you know. Hope this helps!

Reprogramming a spare with only 1 original - 2004 Chevy Malibu

the ignition keys are not coded. no "chip" in them you should be able to just have a spare key cut and it will work fine. These use an electronic device in key cylinder that senses the proper rotation of cylinder and tumblers. so if someone tries to pry on with a screwdriver it will disable starter. when this is replaced it has to be reprogrammed
