Hello, to change the oil filter try to follow this steps.

1, Lift the Passat with a car jack and place the jack stand underneath it and if don't have use a set of wheel ramps , make sure you brace the front tire so that the car won't roll.

2. Pop the hood and locate the oil filler cap and dipstick Passat cars have the dipstick on the front side of the engine block. Unscrew and remove both the filler cap and dipstick.

3. Gather an oil drip pan, new oil filter, socket or box wrench, filter wrench and cleaning cloths. Slide under your car and locate the drain plug and oil filter. The VW Passat oil filter is on the front side of the engine block. If your Passat is a 1998 or newer, you must remove the lower engine cover for access to filter.

HOW MANY ENGIN OIL IN V6 3000 PEJARO

5 litres of oil with a new oil filter fitted. I own a Pajero, same car.

The oil filter is a pain to get to when changing it out for a new one. I have a few different oil filter change tools, the best in the case of your car is a thin band type.

I change the oil filter every oil change on all my vehicles. It is cheaper to spend an extra $10 every oil change than to rebuild the motor.

Do I need a mechnic for changing oil in my chevi

No. The oil is very easy to change. All you need is a filter wrench and a 15 mm. socket, and a drain pan. Get under the truck and the oil filter is right there and the drain plug is in the oil pan. Drain the oil first, then remove the oil filter with the filter wrench. Take your finger and dip it in the oil and put a film of oil on the new oil filter gasket. Then install the new oil filter. Once you install the new oil filter, put the drain plug back in. Then put 5 quarts of new oil in the oil fill.

My daughter tells me that the mechanic at a garage in town tells her that the OIL FILTER doesn't have to be changed. Is that correct???

If it has an oil filter that can be removed, then it has to be changed at least every other oil change. Better repace with every oil change. Some modern cars as some european sedans (bmw and mercedes) as well as some fancy corvettes and probably vipers, do not have external oil filters and do not even have a dipstick. On this cars, the oil is special to be changed every 30 top 50 thousand miles, but even on this vehicles, there is an internal oil filter that also has to be replaced.

2004 jeep grand cherokee, 4.0, change oil without filter change,

Not sure why the question is even being asked, but you can change the oil yourself in about 15 minutes; simply jack the front end, put a pan under the oil drain plug, open the plug, let it drain, put the plug back in, and add new oil.

Take it to any outlet that changes oil (Wal-Mart, for example, charges about $18, some places charge as little as $15) and they'll include a new filter because otherwise you're running new oil through an old filter, which defeats the idea of the oil change. You can ask them not to put on a new filter, but you'll still pay the base price.

My question is, why would you not want a new filter if you're changing oil.

Let me know if this answers your question.
