1985 nissan king cab z24 engine. I want to replace the original carb. with a 2 barrel carb. with no emissions hook ups. The objective is to save some money. Is this possible?

Best bet for a replacement carb would be a weber 32/36..Part # K646 . It has everything in the kit for replacing the stock carb. Block off all the emission vac ports.

1986 Nissan 720 King Cab with 2.4 Naps Z engine (Carb based) ... Just yesterday it made a real weird loud panging noise (Kind of ... If you dont surface the head it will usually form better to the bad block deck giving you as much as another 100k !!!!!!!! before it ... Also the z24 HATES head gasket coating.

I am new to this forum along with Datsun/Nissan trucks. ... doing a lot of reading and trying to become more familiar with the Nissan 720 /z24 engine. ... also if the mixture is out of adjustment it can cause the same symtoms also.the ... Listen near the back of the carb and you should hear a light clicking sound.
Guys he has a Z24, Not KA24, Z24 for one, Is carbed and has older lifters and valves. They need to be tuned to spec within a certain specific limit and the cams must be rotated in certain positions when doing different valves, etc... Shouldnt take very long normally and its not a hard process but if you have a tick, you really should get it checked out. Btw, the Z24 engine's idle isnt controlled by ecu at all or else the carb wouldnt need an idle adjustment screw.
Considering that the vehicle is 25 years old, your chances of getting a decent orignal steering wheel is slim. Ebay.com or craigslist.com may be where you have to search. A dealer will not have this part.
your uncles olds probably has a 425 or a 455 engine in it. anyways, your carb, either 2 barrel or 4 barrel, is 24 years old and is in need of an rebuild. you call call around for an estimate or buy a carb already rebuilt and that should solve your problem. the older carbs will not have the same emissions fittings/hardware and would probably not pass an emissions test.
You have the NAPS Z (nissan anti performance system haha) emissions engine. the dual plugs provide a hot spark for exhaust gas reburn and lowered tailpipe emissions. both plugs fire at the same time. It is not really a good engine platform for high performance modification as its limited by the NAPS Z cross flow cylinder head design, its best to leave them mostly stock. I have owned several of the 720 king cab pu's and can attest to their durability, fuel economy, and reliability when properly tuned and maintained.
