As luck would have it, the answer in one word is: Yes
We just replaced the water pump on a Pontiac Bonneville and this is the process used.
That's how it's done and we bill one hour for rusty bolts or thirty minutes for a clean and relatively rust free environment.

Yes you do. place a floor jack under engine with a block of wood on top of jack to protect the engine, put just enough pressure on jack to steady engine. remove motor mount, then jack up engine a bit to take belt off. replace the belt then lower jack and attach the mount. on the mount only the outside bolts need to come off to raise engine. do not remove from engine side unless you are changing it or its bad, be carefull when raising engine, pick it up from a sturdy place, not the oil pan. have a good day !!
