I am having trouble getting my Land Rover to start up. Normally if the car has been sitting still for a couple hours and I try to start it back up it will do fine, but when I turn the engine off and go back a few minutes later it wont start. It will make a sound like it's trying to rev up but never does, almost like it's not getting enough "juice" to the engine. My mechanic didn't see any leakage problems, and it wasn't over heating because it had plenty antifreeze in it. He said it might be the anti-theft lock on the key that might be adding to it not wanting to start up, but that doesn't make sense entirely considering that it seems to have its own mind of when it chooses to start up. The anti-theft lock theory seems to work sometimes, but it still doesn't always start up. Often times I wait 2 or more hours and the car will finally decide to start.

SOURCE: ABS LIGHT ON, SHIFT LOCKED, NO BRAKE LIGHT.

If your brake lights don't work Its because you blew the fuse  which Is located In the main fuse panel under steering wheel.  Without break lights your rover will fire up nice but wont shift out of park until you replace the fuse.  If your ABS Is acting up It Is also an easy fix.  Disconnect the ABS from each wheel.  You still got all wheel disc breaks that work great but no ABS.  Your other option is  thousands of $$.  If your breaks are weak check your master cylinder and make sure you got enough fluid and that you are not loosing the fluid.  If you notice you are leaking brake fluid because you have to keep filling it up but cannot find a leak anywhere.  I bet I know where It is.  Check your rear break lines and make sure one of them didn't get caught in your rear springs and pinched ever so slightly when you were doing dounuts In the snow.
Good luck,

SOURCE: radio codes

the code is usually located on a sticker in the glove box. If not you going to have to remove the radio, get the serial number and call a dealership.

SOURCE: Losing antifreeze, but I see no leakage on the

If you are loosing radiator water/antifreeze and you see 'white' smoke out of your exhaust then it is likely that you are seeing steam: this usually indicates that you have a blown cylinder head gasket or have a cracked ylinder head: both situation will cause overheating of your engine. You can also check this situation by waiting until the engine is COLD, opening the radiator cap, refill with clean radiator fluid/water, restart the engine and see if the water as seen in the radiator is violently bubbling. Another condition before even starting the car again is if you see oil/white-brown staining in the radiator fluid caused by cracked cylinder head or gaskets letting engine oil in the radiator circuit. In any case, it is a critical sitation and you should get it checked and fixed immediately.
Hope it helps and please let me know if I have assessed the correct situation.

How to reset ECU and eingen system

I'm not aware of any reset that can be done without the Rover TextBook. If you simply want to clear the stored data, trouble codes, etc thats pretty simple. -engine off, remove negative lead from the battery (single black cable). I usually wrap this with a rubber glove or a rubber drawer toolbox liner, something rubber any way just to be on the safe side and then tuck somewhere out of the way so it doesn't springback and make unwanted contact with anything. Once your negative lead is removed many stored items will be cleared from memory. Let Rover sit with cable off for an hour or so. This will also discharge the stored power within the BECM and the ECM (Rovers brain). At this point everything that can be cleared in your garage has been cleared. There are a couple systems that I believe are not affected such as ABS and the EAS system. If you are having airshock issues this will not reset the EAS faults. Hope this helps.

Hi justin, sounds like you have a headgasket problem are you going through any water? If not you may have a leaking fuel injector or faullty fuel pressure regulator. you either have fuel or water leaking into a cylinder causing it to miss fire on first start up.

Series II 4.0 litre V8 Land Rover Discovery runs but stalls out after a few miles. The vehicle restarts after cooling down it seems. This generally takes a couple of hours or a tow back home. Service

Sounds like the same issue I had with my 2002 Discovery 2 V8. Mine used to run for about 10 minutes, then die, usually in the most inconvenient locations! The Crank sensor is in need of replacement. It sits near the exhaust downpipe (behind a heat shield) but obviously this shield isn't enough as they die after about 80,000-100,000 miles. Just get it replaced and I think your issues will solved.

I have a 2004 Range Rover HSE . I had to boost the car many times after its been sitting for over 48 hours. I have replaced the battery by an OEM one but i still get the battery light flashing in the dash....

Sometimes that $125 an hour is worth it compared to the cost of replacing parts.....Define weak for the alt? They are either good or they are bad. If the voltage or current is low then there is a failure. What is your running voltage at idle? if it is 13v or lower than the battery is not getting a proper charge and will go dead from the draw of normal backup items. Also check all battery cables and grounds.

2002 Land Rover Freelander..... Went completely dead while driving. When I try to start it all the lights in the dash light up and the fuse box has a clicking sound. What could this be?

Hi

A few things, firstly very common on al rovers and land rover is the earth wire from the battery snapps off from the car bosy, it should go directly from the battery " the black lead" to the car body and have a good contact, this is normally around the slam panel of the car and is easy to see if the connection is poor.
Check that first then get back to me if it is not the fault I have a few idea's what it would be but thats the most common.
