This should be a really simple fix if you posses a automotive test lamp to check the circut of the blower motor.

If you have a test lamp, ground the connector terminal on the fram of the vehicle, prob the tan and black wire at the blower motor and the light should come on when turning the switch to high speed, check at the blower motor connector. if you have power then you may have a defective B/M.

Also check fuse #46 at the power distribution center under the hood.

hope this helps.

What needs to be done to repair my a/c?

I doubt you will find just the button/switch. You could take the switch apart and see if you can fix it. Or you can replace the whole module.

98 Jeep Cherokee 6cyl - heater & a/c only blow out defroster duct

Usually a sign of a vac leak between the engine and the control on the dash or the blend door.
The defrost position is the default when there is a problem with the system so that the windshield stays clear in wintertime.

sounds like the ac has a leak in the dash. that is probably the bad smell you have with the heater.

Need to know location of heater blower in my 2000 jeep cherokee sport my heat gets warm but the fans not blowing

Down under glove box. When it doesnt blow, rap on the motor with a wrench or hammer. if it tries to blow, or comes on, the blower is bad, replace it.

My fan only blows in the defrost no matter what setting it is on

check behind the rf bumper area, you will find a vacuum resovour, check to see if there is any cracks in the lines/hose, and make sure it is connected securely. also make sure the vacuum line going into the firewall to the heater box is ok..i have had the plastic line break due to heat and age---hope this helped you !!

98 XJ cherokee sport 4.0 a/c blows hot air not warm, hot like the heater will not disengage. ac is charged lines and canister are cold. all positions on selector blows heater.

check that the heater control valve on the heater hoses is working, also check that blend door inside heater box and blend door vacuum motor are working. Likely the problem is with the door or motor, but unfortunately, the entire heater box needs to be removed to get to them on most vehicles.

A/c heater fan no blow

sounds to me like the blower motor resistor, and if I'm not mistaken the resistor and the blower motor are located under the dash on the passengers side. the resistor should have a wiring connection and 2 screws attaching it to the blower case. The a/c and heater blower will not work if the resistor goes out. hope this helps you out a little. Best wishes.

Fan motor switch on 98 jeep cherokee only works on high

In many cases this is the result of the blower motor resistor having gone bad. They are often located in the housing that holds the blower motor but I cannot say 100% for sure with the Jeep Cherokee.
