I own a 2002 buick rendevousz and when i press the brake the engine turn off and i have to restarted again. on top of that the awd light is on the mechanic said is only driving in 2 wheel when is suppost to be driving in 4. but he doesn't know why the engine suddenly stop i took it to 2 different mechanics but they couln't find the problem. also the anti-lock light is on. can u help me?
I own the 2002 Buick Rendezvous CX and I've encountered the same problems listed here. The ABS / Traction Control Lamp stays on and was throwing a code for the left wheel speed sensor as well as an anti-lock brake code (both in the wheel bearing hub assembly). I replaced the left and right front wheel hub assembly yet this did not eliminate the abs codes.
Ultimately, I traced this problem to a break in the wire that leads to the left hub assembly. Although the sensor was properly connected, the wire (which is encased in a plastic housing) was broken. This is the wiring which leads from the abs wiring harness under the hood down to the left wheel abs sensor.
I would suggest that you simply remove the left wheel and inspect the wire that leads to the abs sensor (there is only one wire on each wheel). Mine literally fell apart when I removed the plastic housing around the wire. I spliced the wire together and put it back in the plastic housing. After this, my abs codes disappeared and my anti-lock brakes began working again!
This is a simple fix that many people spend $1000 + on by replacing the hub assembly which does not fix the problem.
Ge rid of the 2002 buick rendezvous it is junk!!! it is no wonder why General Motors is in the toilet!!

This bulletin is being revised to change part number information and update the model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 03-05-25-004 (Section OS - Brakes).
Condition
Some customers may comment that the ABS and/or traction control system lamp is illuminated. Also, the AWD disabled message may be displayed. Upon investigation, the technician may find several DTCs set.
Correction
When normal diagnosis leads to the wheel speed sensor as the suspect component, replace the front wheel bearing and hub assembly, P/N 89047684. Refer to the Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement procedure in the Front Suspension sub-section of the Service Manual. This new part has 6 mm (0.236 in) added to the harness to prevent any stress to the wiring.
Hope this helps if so please give me a fixya and contact me about the shutting off I did not have enough room here.

1 have a 202 buick rendezvous , the traction light stay and the antilock light stay on, it wount start i put new altinator and new battery still not starting with out jump start.................help please
I own a 2003 Rendezvous and have had the anti lock brake light and ABS disabled intermittently for about 8 months. I have taken it to have brakes looked at. First replaced front brakes, then rear brakes. It groans when I apply brakes especially backing up and often brakes are hard to apply. Now the light comes on and there is no more noise but can't stand notknowing how brakes will work.
What is up with the hubs. Rears cost me $800 and seems like everybody is having front trouble. Jacked it up and spins fine not wobbling. Moaning from rear differential.
