Have fuel pressure tested in both situations. I've seen fuel pumps quit once they get heated up, then when they cool, pump again. Perhaps try WD40 sprayed in to throttle body inlet when no start, and that will tell you if it's a fuel delivery problem. Just remove air cleaner intake hose at front of throttle body, and open throttle and spray for a second or 2 then try to start. If it fires up and runs for a second or 2, then it's a lack of fuel issue.
There is a number of things that this could be, bad rotor in the distributor, loose wire in distributor, coil is going bad, timing is off, coil wire is working right, out of gas, bad fuel pump. all i can say is have fun. start with the cheapest and easiest to fix and go from there.
Here is a pic of a schrader valve. They all look about the same.
If there isn't much pressure, cycle the ignition without turning the engine over and try again. If it is still weak, you may need a new fuel filter. If it is strong, you may have dirty or clogged fuel injectors.
It may be spark, but I'm inclined to think it is fuel related.
