The only way to repair a leaking rack and pinion is to replace the rack and pinion with either a new or remanufactured unit. (Nobody sells rebuild kits for them like they used to several years ago.)
AutoZone lists a remanufactured unit for $452.99 plus a $115.00 core charge. Click HERE for more information.
If you are having a professional shop do the job, they will most likely charge you the standard labor time multiplied by the shop labor rate + alignment charges. This can vary considerably depending on the area where you live and what shop you take it to. The standard labor time to perform rack and pinion replacement on your vehicle is 5.5 hours. (Does not include alignment)
The labor rate in my area averages about $95 per hour. A wheel alignment can be done for about $70.
The total job would run $1045.99 + taxes and charges for shop supplies, which would put it right in the neighborhood of $1100.00.
Seeing as how you ask the price & only a repair
shop could guess at that, I assume your not going
to R&R yourself.
You do not repair steering racks
You replace with a reman
Not an easy job
