Hello! I have a 2003 nissan altima. For about 3 weeks it had the "check engine" light on. For about 3 times when I started my car the engine started but then the engine went off inmediatelly. This morning I did the same thing and the engine went off again. Any help!! Thanks.
Unfortunately there are literally hundreds of things it could be. Need to take it to a shop for diagnostics.Unfortunately there are literally hundreds of things it could be. Need to take it to a shop for diagnostics.

Could be low fuel pressure or a faulty throttle position sensor. Have the fuel pressure checked and if the check engine light is on have the computer scanned for trouble codes.
If the check engine light is NOT on, it will be a mechanical problem like a clogged air filter, fuel filter or faulty spark plugs. If your check engine light IS on, it is a sensor like the O2 or MAF for example. Best to get it diagnosed if the check engine is on to specify with sensor is causing the problem.
3 to 5 seconds is not really excessive. You might, however, want to try this...depress the gas petal to the floor then turn the ignition while slowly raising you foot off the accelerator. If this helps start the car the check engine light is probably indicating an oxegen sensor problem.
this problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.
Nita0605 you should have included a little more infomation. Does the car drive any different when the light is on? Most likely you have a trouble code P0325.........Knock sensor fault or O2 sensor problem. I wouldn't worry about it until the light stays on
is the check engine light on?? you may need a crank ngle sensor. pretty common problem with altima. nissan actually has TSB out for replacement of sensors. good luck.
