Touareg 2005 Boot Cannot Close. I had my Touareg boot opened completely to dump my baby car seat in the trunk because I had additional person to go in the car. I tried to close the boot thereafter but it won't click. You could hear the mechanism operating and then stop, but the boot won't close. I tried to stroke the mechanism on the boot lid and I could see that the part of it on the rear bumper moves normally but the one on the lid that is supposed to close of over it won't. Pls what can I do as I can't move the car with the boot opened.

I am assuming your problem is similar to mine; the key fob isn't dead, but for some reason the boot won't release.  This happens rarely, but can be very frustrating (and embarrassing)!

When neither the key fob nor the release on the boot work, lock and unlock the car, and insert the key into the ignition.  Turn the key to the second stage, i.e. the accessories are powered, and then remove the key.  This ought to allow you to use the fob again.

You can try this I think the latch is just slightly missaligned.Did you put something in the trunk and push down on the trunk?Try to push down hard on the trunk where the latch is a few times while pressing the remote.If this works and it opens look for marks on the latch indicating rubing,file down,spray with WD 40.Good Luck.

if you insert the key in the lock and turn it alittle further the boot should open.the noise you hear is the actuator moving,but the plastic rod to open the boot is probably brocken.
