Dashboard lights I have a 2005 ford taurus, at night I can't see how fast I am going, I believe it is a fuse, because I recently put a new radio in the car and I believe the person whom put the radio in my car did not disconect the battery. Which fuse in the box do I need to replace. I do not want to inspect each fuse, because I am not really a mechanic and don't want to break a fuse. Which number fuse controls the dashboard lights?

On the dash to the left of the steering column there should be a dial for the lights to dim or brighten them on the dash display and if you turn this all the way up it keeps the dome light on. if you have an owners manual it will help alot otherwise autozone is also helpful with diagrams and such for fuses and relays if that ends up being what is wrong but it sounds like the dash display light got turned down when the person installed your radio

Radio fuse blew, speedometer quit working. After replacing fuse the speedometer is very sluggish (goes up fast down slow)

You may need a new Vehicle Speed Sensor. It is located on the Transmission on the Passenger side out-put shaft housing.

I PUT A NEW BATTERY IN MY 2005 FORD ESCAPE AND NOW THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WONT COME ON AND I CANT OPERATE THE RADIO OR REAR VIEW MIRRORS

When you replaced the battery, you may have blown the fuse that runs all of those accessories. I would check your fuse panel for any blown fuses.

Odometer,spedometer,radio

My nephew has a 96 taurus also when his radio went out he noticed that his speedometer was not working as well so we check the fuses under the dashboard and found that a fuse from the radio memory was blown . We replaced it and the radio and speedometer and the odometer worked fine

Dash, running lights, radio..on and off

Something similar happened to my 2005. the gauges went crazy! stopped half way or dropped completely down. Like the fuel indicator, speedometer, tach. While I never lost the radio or headlights, I did lose my dashboard lights--pretty creepy at night. My husband did some online digging and found the problem. In the dashboard gauge set-up there is a poor solder on one of the electronic components. He took the gauge center off, popped it open, found the crappy solder, fixed it, put it back in and it has worked fine ever since!!!

the ****--Ford knows about this faulty soldering and since it doesn\'t happen to ALL of the cars--just a select few(even more models we found out later)--they won\'t do a recall. Even if you take it to a dealership for them to fix, odds are they could replace it with an entire unit with the same problem. Your best bet is to fix the bad solder yourself or find someone who can.

Dash lights out

Owners manual should tell you where the fuse box is, I can't remember off the top of my head but it may be under the dash on the drivers side, there is also a box under the hood but I don't think the dash light fuse would be under there.

If the fuse is good the dimmer on the dash could have gone bad.

Odometer only works at night

THE PROBLEM IS A BAD OR SHORTED PINS OR CHIP, SO YOUR BEST BET IS THAT, TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER, SORRY.
ALL NEW CLUSTERS ARE ELECTRICAL NOW.
WHAT YOU CAN TRY IS TAKE THE CLUSTER OUT AND LOOK FOR ANY BLOWN RESISTOR OR METAL CARRIER.
IF IT WORKS AT NIGHT THE LIGHT SWITCH IS SENDING THE POWER TO THE UNIT. AT DAY TIME ANOTHER SOURCE IS SENDING POWER TO IT. SO THAT CHANNEL MAY BE BLOWN.
