Hi i have a 2001 honda accord ex v6 coup. it had an automatic transmission when i put it in reverse it jerks really hard an shakes the car sometimes. when i put it in first gear it jerks the car alittle bit.. u can only tell when u press on the brakes lightly.. and the RPM doesnt drop when you let off the gas, it moreless sticks. it will stick the slowly drop then instantly rev up agin before it lets out of gear. and to me it takes a bit longer for it to shift into gear. when it shifts into the frist three gears you can feel a a slight thud or **** im not sure how to discribe that. other wise it shifts fine. and when its driven it sometimes has noise like rrrrrrr or some motors going bad. it dont do that all the time though. does anyone have any idea whats wrong with my car?

I suggest you have a transmission shop take a close look at your vehicle. That year accord with a v6 and automatic transmission had a recall for the transmission and your problem seems to be a slowly dying tranny.

Automatic Transmission shifting problems.

i had the same thing...It's the transmission. It's REALLY noticeable shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I was able to get my transmission fixed for 900 bux. That wasn't even a replacement so i can imagine how much it would cost to get it replaced. The shifting will get worse. By the end of my "experience" it wouldn't shift from 1st to 2nd for about 5 minutes until i drove it around for a bit. THen it would "warm up" to the idea of shifting to 2nd gear.

I have an 2000 honda accord ex v6 3.0 with reverse gear

IT sounds like your reverse gear is going out, or that you need to have filter replaced my best advise is have your transmission checked out by a transmission shop as soon as possible.

1999 Accord Coupe V6 A/T Prolem

That transaxle has long been a problem for Honda & they have NEVER really properly engineered it to be free of defects Unfortunately. I had a similar problem at around 66,000 miles with my V6 Accord EXL Coupe & at that time Honda did the right thing and repaired the transmission but made me pay for the labor (a fair yet semi-expensive) fix but reasonable. Then more recently around 152,400 miles the transmission failed again & began slipping. I had asked for Honda to do another fix of the transmission & I pay for the labor BUT they refused. I find it sad when a major company does not stand behind a product they know has had defects & issues throughout the entire product line of the V6 Accord & Odyssey (which use the same transaxle) & instead states from the warranty booklet (which I understand but think a Honda vehicle should last for several hundred thousand miles) especially when the owner followed & follows all of the recommended preventative maintenance in the service handbook from Honda...especially when the car looks like it is brand new & now it has a New Transmission too...no thanks to Honda corporate :)

Honda Accord 98 EX coupe - 3L V6 starting problem

I would take the vehicle to a different shop.
You can go to Autozone , They can scan the vehicle for free. There maybe a codes stored and auto zone can tell you what the code means. You can also check the price of ignition coils with them. The price the shop is asking is rediculous . I am guessing a coil should not be no more then 100.00 and labor time 1.5 hours with diagnosis time. I think you can get an estimate for repairs at Pep boy for a lot less. Good Luck .

Automatic transmission

low transmission fluid will not effect the hand shifter performance..to check your fluid let the vehicle run untill the temp reading is in the middle then shut it off.and within 90 seconds remove the stick wipe clean reinsert the stick remove again and see where wet mark ends
