Engine light is on. Used ScanGauge ll and came up with trouble code P0456. What does it mean.
Thanks Frank
P0456 = EVAP Emissions Control System Leak Very Small
Is the gas cap on tight or is the seal damaged? If it needs replacement, get it from the dealer.
This might help
Lights around my heater knobs in my 2003 dodge ram pick up are out and need replaced how do I replace them? And with which bulbs?
I had this code reading (P0456) on my 2003 Nissan Frontier. Along with having the codes checked (diagnostics) & replacing gas cap cost $80. Engine Service Soon light came back on steady with a smell of gas from passenger side, rear near filler cap. Took back & now they say it is a Small Evap Leak from a Evap valve that needs to be replaced. Will cost $400 & this still may not be the problem if the light comes back on again with another code. Was told, the self-test stops once it gets to the next code & won't know all the problems until Check Engine Soon light doesn't come on again. I was all for Nissan, but my dealership treated me pretty poorly before this happened & closed up in the middle of the night without any notice to customers. Just glad I got my truck back for whatever it is worth. I religiously had all the regular service maintenance done & now it is at 43,000 miles & problems don't seem to stop.
..replacing the gas cap may not help. I just took my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 to the dealership to deal with P0456 Evap Leak detected. The dealership replaced the NVLD, Gasket Cap and Fuel Filler, and one week later the Engine Light was back on and diagostic still reveals the same problem. Even though the P0456 can suggest 45 different problems, you'd think the Dealership could pinpoint the actually issue. I just can't afford to troubleshoot.

2008 Nissan Pathfinder with 6000 miles on the truck. Code P0442, and P0456 coming up. Service engine light keeps coming on, and I've taken it in for service about 7 times now. Replaced gas cap, and vent control from what I was told. Services were provided under warranty, but the aggrevation is not so great. I've never had to take a new vehicle in for service so soon. Seems they have had problems before.
In addition to the codes, the truck has a push/pull feeling while driving, lose of power sometimes, and occassionally seems as though it is slipping in the transmission...hesitation...or timings off, and occassionally stinks, with a foul smell. In addition, I hear a ticking noise coming from the engine. Does anyone have a clue.
My engine service lisght came on. (Nissan 2005 Pathfinder) I tightened my gas cap, waited three days...still no change. Brought it in for 110$ diagnostic, was told it was P0442 not an emergency until I need emissions..HOWEVER..now I have a horrible foul egg smell 24/7. Is that a result of the P0442 issue or is it something else?
engine light came on
