SOURCE: Alternator removal on 1997 Isuzu Trooper
My son just got the alternator off of my Trooper (1997) and he said removing the wheel is not necessary. He took off 2 bolts from the top and several from the bottom that were very difficult to remove but then the alternator came off pretty easy. He says if it loose then it should come off pretty easy, if it is not loose, you must be missing a bolt somewhere. He also says is you are in our area, call him and he will take it off for $100 =)

Follow the throttle cable to the throttle body, there should be an idle adjuster screw somewhere.
SOURCE: not starting at all
I'd check all the battery cable connections first. If they are clean and tight then it sure sounds like a starter. When a starter wears out, it takes more and more energy to make it work. Usual symptoms are the car will start when its cold and after the car heats up some, the car needs a jump to start again. Eventually, the starter will stop working altogether.

If its the 3.0 diesel it could be the rail oil pressure sensor starting to pack up .
SOURCE: '92 Isuzu Trooper speedometer problem
Replace the speed sensor located on the transmission this sends the signal to the speedometer, you may want to check the plug and its terminals to be sure the terminals in the plug are not corroded if they are clean the terminals with electrical contact cleaner then drive the care see if cleaning the plug fixed it if not replace the speed sensor.
