I bought a sony deck to replace the bose stock deck on my 1996 nissan maxima. I purchased the wiring harness and antena adapter also. I hooked everything up right and getting power but im not getting no power to the audio. What would be my problem? Is there maybe a stock amp powering the speaker.

You can buy a speaker level converter (schoshe) follow the wiring in the manual and u can add any thing you want head unit, speakers, and subs, also if u have no power or sound it's because u have to ground the harness to the chasis(metal) close as possible to the radio, i have 96 maxima with 4 sony xplods, pioneer head unit, and a sub u must follow wiring diagram in manual(must)

Each speaker in your car runs the wiring thru an amp. So each spkear has its own amp for the bose system. You can not hook up a none bose radio If you do you will need to run new wires and replace all the speakers. Sorry.

How can i replace 1991 maxima radio system?

The original radio is a BOSE system and it has a buit in amp. So if you replaced the deck you need to replace the speakers all so. Don't cut the wires to hook-up the deck buy an addapter KIT. It's not just the stereo that runs though that harness the factory alarm does all so and that will cause you problems. Anyway back to the stereo you need to add an amplifier and problem sovled.

Can i hook up an amp to my bose system ...

O assume you are wanting to add a sub as bose systems are already amplified. The short answer is ues, however most bose systems require special interface harnesses and may require complex wiring. This is best left to a qualified mobile electronics shop.

Fixing car radio myself

Check fuses, if all are good you will have to replace radio. Replacing a radio is quite easy if you use an adaptor from Circuit City for instance, or know your way around a voltmeter. If you can't get either it would be better to have a store/shop put one in for you.
