Green colored antifreeze. You can use just water, but it is not good for the engine parts. Antifreeze will not freeze and it has a lubricant in it for the water pump and rust inhibitors. For -20 degrees farenhight mix it 50% water 50% antifreeze.

YOU SUPPOSE TO USE 50/50 GREEN ANTIFREEZE AND WATER TO COOLANT SYSTEM. IF YOU USE STRAIGHT WATER IT WILL BOIL EVAPORATE AWAY WHILE ANTIFREEZE WILL RAISE BOILING POINT.

How do i drain radiator

Most radiators have a 1/4" drain cock at the bottom of the reservoir.

If not??? (haven\'t seen one yet) then remove the bottom hose.

Make, year & model of the vehicle will help. And if the radiator is original.

Coolant

Its not too difficult. The is a canister that contains the coolant. Just undo the cap and top up. Be sure you use coolant to the same specs that is already there. If not, you'll have to drain out the old one and top up with completelty new coolant

Where is the waterpump to add coolant and water in santafe 2005?

The water pump is enclosed on the front of the engine. The bottom radiator hose connects to the water pump inlet.
You do not add coolant to the water pump. You add a 50-50 mix of antifreeze and water into the radiator cap opening. Or you can buy the coolant already mixed with water and just pour it into the radiator.

The coolant system uses the water pump to circulate the coolant through the engine and then into the radiator via the upper radiator hose for cooling it off, and it then goes back into the engine through the bottom radiator hose. When the engine is warmed up, the coolant constantly circulates through the engine to radiator and back into the engine.

My coolant is leaking and its a big possibility it might be the water pupm or radiator but i think its just a hole in the container that holds the coolant, is ok if i put water in there constant to keep...

Stop leak is a temporary solution and never a long term fix. You need to locate the source of the leak and replace the faulty part. I also doubt that the coolant overflow reservoir is leaking unless something has been done to the vehicle to damage it.

Using water rather than the correct spec coolant mix as a top up is NOT recommended (even for a short period) because, among other things, the coolant mix provides lubrication for the water pump. Constantly adding water rather than the correct coolant mix dilutes the coolant mix and it becomes ineffective.

Your engine needs an efficient cooling system to survive so have the leak investigated and fixed saspo.
If you allow the engine to overheat you will cause very expensive engine damage and end up with a car you will not be able to drive. It is always cheaper to fix the problem.

NOTE DO NOT use cooling system seal tabs (or similar compounds) unless otherwise instructed. The use of cooling system seal tabs (or similar compounds) may restrict coolant flow through the passages of the cooling system or the engine components. Restricted coolant flow may cause engine overheating and/or damage to the cooling system or the engine components/assembly.

Where do i refill coolant? message reading low engine coolant.

please rate, thx Coolant Recovery System NOTE: When the water thermostat (8575) is closed, there is no flow through the radiator coolant recovery reservoir (8A080).

Trapped air in the cooling system must be removed. A pressurized radiator coolant recovery reservoir system is used which continuously separates the air from the cooling system.
  • When the water thermostat is open, coolant flows through the small hose from the top of the radiator outlet tank to the radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
  • The radiator coolant recovery reservoir separates any trapped air from the coolant and replenishes the system through its radiator coolant recovery hose to the water thermostat housing.
  • The radiator coolant recovery reservoir serves as the location for:
    • service fill
    • coolant expansion during warm-up
    • system pressurization from the pressure relief cap and
    • air separation during operation
  • The radiator coolant recovery reservoir is designed to have approximately 0.5-1 liter (0.53-1.06 quarts) of air when cold to allow for coolant expansion.
