Hi, I hope this will help you , there is a part call the governor ,is on top of your transmision ,and looks like a distribuitor,,this have a plastic gear at the end of the shaft that wear out and dont let the transmition to shift ,,it have a ten mm bolt that holds it in place ,,,is a comon problem of nissan..... good luck.....

    Does this part have a cap that you have to remove at the top of Trans? If so, it is called a govenor/shaft assembly, and it is sold as 1 piece.

I have simalar problem have a 1988 nissan sentra b-12 3dr. 1.6l finaly found 10mm bolt removed and there was no gear just shaft! i have part# for shaft but not the gear! where is the gear! looked inside as much as possible cant see it does anyone have apic of what complete assembly looks like! been to 1,000 sites! bought book doesnt even mention govenor gear!

    The part # for the gear is : 31894-01X02 or just the first set of digits before the dash

I have a 2002 excursion, The gear selector goes into park, but the vehicle continues to roll. It will also only start in neutral.
Its gear shift issues.

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.


There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

2000 grand prix 3100 tran. didn't whine or slip and fluid doen'st smell burnt. But the car won't move it is like it is in N. all the time.
could be a selector failure. easiest to check first or internall drama with torqu converter ,one way clutch or other. these will require r@r n overhaul

2003 chevy suburban 4wd 1500 lt shifts slow to 2nd gear and vibrates between 65 and 70 mph
Sounds to me that you need your trans fluid changed and filter. When you do change it use a quart of Lucas transmission conditioner to it. Also check and see if you may have a bad univercel, It will also make it vibrate at faster speeds or your drive shaft may need to be rebalanced.

1994 chevy caviler 3 speed auto will not shift out of first gear
Before you take your car to a transmission shop, first check the transmission fluid level (engine running, warm, in park, on level ground). Add fluid if necessary. Second, look for a loose shift linkage or some kind of loose hose connection. If these don't fix the problem, I am afraid you might be SOL.
