The trans won't shift into d3 or d4 without some finess with gas pedal and manual shifting. When it is warm it seems better, but still goes into a free wheeling feel. I can pull over and turn car off for a minute with it in park. I then start it up and it seems fine for a few minutes then starts not shifting into d3, d4 again. I think it is an electronic problem rather than the old clutch packs slipping and need to be rebuild. Can you help me???

The shift points in the trans are electroniclly controlled if they are going bad witch is normally the case with the accord auto trans.you can either have the trans rebuilt or get a new one.

What gear can I used for highway D3 or D4

use d4. d4 is for normal driving. d3 is to down shift the transmission in case you wanna pass. use d3 only if you want to down shift because if you leave your car in d3 on the highway, it doesnt allow the 4th gear to engage, causing your engine to run at higher revs, not only wasting more gas but also making your engines life last less. hope this helps. if you need more help, let me know. goodluck

92 honda accord lx auto trans has been shifting around 2,500-3,000 rpm each gear and now the D4 gear does not work at all and D3 works but accelerates slowly after a complete stop. i have to shift down...

check transmission fluid level- run/drive for about 10 min. , park car- check with engine running- add fluid if needed- ,if fluid NOT low- transmission filter needs to be changed

What is the difference between d3 and d4 on gear shift. It has sport on it also.

Stands for drive3 and drive4, if your not hauling any thing, used d4, will give you better gas mileage, it's like an overdrive.

1991 Honda S light

if you drive the car with the shifter in d1 and while driving down the road move the shifter to up shift the foward gears individually if the rpms drop every time you up shift you know your trans shifted if this allows you to go through all gears you have an ecu problem if the car still doesnt shift you have a trans problem and would need to take the car to a transmission shop

1986 corvette 700R4 transmission will not down shift from overdrive to third during hard acceleration. Transmission recently rebuilt new throttle valve, TV cable working and adjusted properly. Help?

Are you sure the TV ( trans shift cable at the throttle valve) cable is correctly adjusted?? Without line pressure readings, I can only guess that the D3/Part throttle check ball is missing, if it is a trans problem
If the TV is correct, I am assuming that the TV cable is pulled tight at WOT.
Did you check the throttle (ACCEL) cable to be sure that the carb goes wide open when your accel pedal is on the floor?? This must be done with someone in the car and a second person looking at the carb. Without doing this, you do not know if you have WOT. Without WOT, the trans will not de-tent and shift down.
