Question about 2003 Dodge Neon
My Dodge Neon SXT 2003 2.0L has 106k. My car Vibrates when I go on reverse and I have already changed the top engine mount but it still vibrates. It always makes a rattleling noise between the steering fluid and the lower engine mount. I have already changed the two drive belts and put belt spray on them and it still rattles. The good thing is that the check engine light is off and it runs good. What could be the solution to these two problems.
I replaced the lower passenger side engine mount and the vibration is still there but a bit less vibration. The lower passenger mount was worn out. I was told by the Dodge service dept that it takes 5 hours to change the main hidden engine mount which is mid way up the passenger side of the engine. That main hidden mount cost 75.00
To get to it you would have to remove the wheel, inner fender plastic work, windshield washer fluid tank, and etc.

There is a hidden motor mount on the passenger side of the engine that will cuase that kind of noise. It sits about right in the center of the engine on the right side. It is a time intensive job for inexperienced mechanics or do it your selfers.

Wow Thanks Facewest for following up AFTER you fixed the problem. I'vr searched and it seems most people ignore their previous post after they've figured it out... leaving us poor souls in the dark. I too have a 2003 SXT w/ the exact same problem. Tomorrow I will get that "main mount" and get to work. Cant wait to fix that great little car.

I have a similar problem with my 03 neon. I replaced the motor mount on the passenger side which only cost me about 35 dollars. As soon as it was installed, I took it out for a spin to see if the noise stopped, it was better at first but then back to how it was. I looked under the hood and the new mount had already broken a little. I assume there is another broken mount which caused this to happen. Took the one that just broke back to Advance and got a new one, hopefully I'll only have to replace one more to solve the problem. That vibration noise is grating on my nerves!
