I had the transmission re-built a little over a year ago. Now it is reving up to 4000rmps before it'll change gears and jerks when it does. Electrical test showed that all the gears were not lining up and the transmission sensor switch is off, also. Will replacing the switch fix this problem?

I would contact transmission rebuilder and let him know. It sounds like the torque converter is defective. That will happen if the transmission is not flushed completely after a rebuild.

My car jerks going down the road its a 95 Buick century and it changes gears fine when I take off just stares jerking a few days ago

When you say it "jerks," this description could fit several actual symptoms. If by "jerks" you mean the engine misfires, it could be caused by the need for a major tune-up (including plug wires and distributor cap), or it could be a problem with fuel delivery, contaminated fuel, or defective components in the fuel system.
I assume the CHECK ENGINE light is on (and has probably been illuminated for some time now). Begin by doing a readout of the stored codes, and use the results to begin your diagnosis.
If by "jerks" you mean the transmission is slipping (engine revs but car slows down or doesn't accelerate), you have a transmission issue. If the transmission fluid and strainer/filter have not been replaced within the past 5 years or 50,000 miles, have a complete transmission service performed.
If by "jerks" you mean that the steering wheel wobbles or pulls, you have a problem with the front suspension.
If by "jerks" you mean that the car shudders or pulls when you apply the brakes, you need brake work.
I think I covered all of the "jerks." ;)

Kia sportage 2007 sputters when I drive jerks and this am as I tried to speed up it didn't seem to want to shift up just reving ??!! I changed allready pump belts and do many other parts what could it be ?...

sputters in the context if engine, means MISFIRING, is it?

for a transmission, they dont sputter. sorry

but can jerk, or snatch, (being caused by gears engaging way to late)

(aka, harsh shifting) the opposite of slip

but it can slip then engage, causes a jerk. or harsh shifting.

see?

they do 100 things wrong, mostly never to sputter.

they don\'t shift up or down

they slip. (bad tranny)

if engine sputters, its tune up time, (posted like 10,000 times here)

if the transmission has issues, have real mech test it and tell you

all the symptoms, and possible ideas.

why not?

the A/T is a very very complex electro /mechanical device.

sputter is a word best for engines. like chain saw with a bad spark plug it sputters along and stalls.

does your car stall?

99 isuzu rodeo auto transmission making loud noise when shifting

It wil require that your trans is rebuilt or replaced
with a factory built or reman

If you change your fluid every 3 years you avoid
most trans problems

After 12 years they are pretty much worn out anyway

My 2000 ford focus does good, til i change into 2nd gear, then from 2nd through 5th gears, it jerks and barely runs. and when it gets real bad, it causes the clutch to slip, what could be the cause of...

So you can race the engine in neutral, and no problem with it trying to die? If that's so, I think you need a clutch job. A clutch disc contaminated with oil or grease will cause jerking and slipping.

Transmission sometime jerking on changing gear most of the time on 2nd + 3rd?

DO NOT have the trans flushed if it has over 75,000... VERY BAD IDEA!!!
it could possibly just be a little low on fluid, Check that. If it is'nt low/or that does'nt straighten it out. it is a more serious problem. I would try some "lucas transmission conditioner".

Transmission locking up

If it has been sitting for ten years....you need to do an engine oil change, and a transmission fluid and filter change.

Ad some fuel stabilizer to the gas tank also. It is available EVERYWHERE.

My 02 lesabre is jerking and reving too high

Hi,
If this is an automatic, you need to change the transmission oil.

When this is old it gets sticky - and causes the problems you say.

If with new oil - it doesn't settle down - take it back and complain. It may be a more serious problem.

Please remember to return to rate this advice so others may benefit -or at least learn from it. Thanks.
