The rpm's can vary from car to car , it all depends on the gearing in the transmission and ratios, 4.0 does seem high for a V6 the easiest thing would to be have your transmission serviced , on this car you need to get the Idle Air Control checked, In all the forums Ive read on this car , that seems to be whats wrong when the RPM's seem to high, also if you have the automatic trans and an electronic manual shifting mode does it do the same thing when you have it in the manual mode? there has been lots of discussion also on the MAP sensor,, I would suggest you have the OBD codes read to see if its listing any trouble codes within the computer that can help with locating your answers, once you get those codes if you post the results here, people will help you and explain what they mean, If you reply to this feed by replying, I will look them up for you
Yeah. My car is manual and automatic. It did on the manual modes too. I havent checked the idle Air control for a while. Is that also cause when I drive the air comes in, it smells yucky? Btw where can I get the OBD codes? I'm so scare to drive on freeway with the high RPM rate cuz my engine could overheat. Thank for your solution !!
if you check you local newspaper ads they usually carry something about auto services, I know a lot of transmission shops offer to check the codes for free, and autozone used to, maybe in your area they still do, check with some parts supply businesses, getting the cods will help limit the search to your problem,, thank you for the rating,, when you get the codes, reply to this feed and I'll try and get you more information
have you tried unplugging the idle air control and see if it will run without it ?
No I havent unplugged it. Actually I went to the transmission service yesterday. They diagnosised my car . They said when they drove it the trainsmission shift normally and the computer didn't find anything wrong with it!!! And then they said cause its GT v6 that's why the prm usually higher than other car!!!
I'd take it to the Hyundai dealer and ask the parts dept for a spec sheet on Rpm's it should be free, and while your there ask them about it, Ive never heard of a tranny shop saying that about a V6
I think that so. Do they do free diagnosis at Hyundai dealer?
most dealers charge for just about everything, I don't know where you live, But I live in southern Calif , and I know that the aamco transmission shop in my town does it for free, You could ask them to run a code check for you , all they can say is its gonna cost ya,
I'm living in Oxanrd, CA. I found one aamco pretty near mine
I found one any they charged for 60 bucks to diagnosis :(
