First thing just try to push or pull the 4x4 lever if you get it to move and it feels like it went into some gear try to drive the truck. If this works look on the shifter for the 4x4 and put it in 2 wheel drive (H2 is two wheel drive,H4 is 4x4 high, and L4 is 4x4 low range).Make sure you have the clutch depresed when you try to move the 4x4 lever. If you try this stuff with no fix try and look for clutch adjustment on the transmision you may need to adjust it or your clutch is bad.

I have had to take the shifting lever out 5 times to replace the small set screw that keeps the shifter in the normal position, for some reason mine keeps backing out and cannot shift into any gear, but the shifter itself will wobble all over. hope this helps.....what mike said above would be my bet, if you don't use 4x4 very much it is easy to accidentally move the 4x4 shifting lever to a point where nothing will engage, pull that shifter all the way down and then all the way up and to the left and you should be in 2 wheel drive.

Manual clutch will go into gear but wont move in any of the 5 gears

You may have an internal transmission problem or clutch issue. If you can shift the car into gear while running without using the clutch pedal, suspect a defective clutch

Why wont my samurai transmission input shaft turn.

5 speed

is it still on the bench>????????
i rebuild many

1: the bearing in the front is bad.
2: the tranny is locked, bad shifter rail, detents
3: 4th gear is not a gear, it just locks themain shaft.
so if in 4th gear and input is jammed, that means
the cluster is jammed. if the cluster jams for any reason
it will be jammed in neutral. too, because the cluster always spins.
bottom counter shaft is called cluster. to old folks.

tell me , with the lid off tranny box.
did you test all gears, by moving the collars 1 by one.?????
each gear,? if not why not.????? never skip this step or fail big time.

then test all rail detents to make sure they all work(lid off)
and never allowing 2 gears selected at once (job1)????

then put in a new shifter sheet and try all gears on the garage floor,
all assembled!
then turn input by and and shift all gears on garage floor
i even use a huge drill motor to test tranny on floor, with tape on tip
of pilot shaft. and shift all gears,

this is all basics, , never just throw it together, do the tests.
as you go.

this one is close,

Why my sidekick wont shift to any gear

please post year, for best help, please.
ok, its a real Samurai or Sammy with kick engine, (so common latter)
I will answer for real Suzuki Sidekick.
the car came in many forms. 4wd, 2wd a, 3sp, 4sp and 5sp M/T
sold in all permutations.
but since you used the any gear, word.
ill roll dice on A/T automatic transmission, my 3 cars are all M/T.

The A/T. will not 3sp chase many ways to not shift. its 100% mech.
and all you can do is check levels.
the A./T 4speed, is electronic shifted, (know it well) and the TCM
shifts car no matter what. and has scan codes to tell you what is wrong, and has limphome mode to still shift and skips 1 gear.
the M/T 5speed, has a bad shifter tip plastic, if it cant shift.
if you force it in to 1st (ask how) and car dont mover, the clutch is bad.
ask how to go father, we can easy.

1990 toyota camry wont go into gear or slips out

Could be a long list of things.
Its too late for a filter change. Doing that now would probably make matters worse.
The trans uses electric solenoids and a pump to apply pressure to the clutches. So either could be faulty given the age and mileage.
I'm not sure if the shifting problem is connected to the shift indicator lights problem.
You may need to take it to a trans shop to find out for sure. And they will not want to touch it with that many miles on it.
A regular mechanic might be able to do a pressure test on it to at least find out if it is the pump or not.

I have a suZuki samari, and the four wheel drive is stuck in neatral. How do I fix it?

I'm assuming you know how the shift works.......sometimes it is a little difficult to position the lever correctly. Due to a possible problem with the plastic "cup" that supports the shift lever, you will need to remove the shift lever from the transfer case, and Use a big screw driver to move the mechanism to the neutral position. Many Samurai suppliers offer the kit to fix the shift

While shifting from 4x4 to 4x2 the gear lever is jammed at neutral position & jeep is not moving

there are no syncros in the transfer case, that would ease in shifting. i would try putting it in gear with the transmission, this will reposition the gears in the transfer case. then back to park or neutral. now try shifting to 4x2.

Samurai accelerates on its own, can't idle, maybe too much fuel from carb?

hi you got an air leak its the air flow not the fuel that controls the speed too much fuel will cause flooding it wont start because its sucking air and eventually when it does the extra air being sucked in causes it to accelrate you need to lift your bonnet listen for signs of air being sucked in it may be a hose , or inlet manifold gaskets carb gasket it might even be the carb as it will have rubber seals diaphrams i had the mixture jet come out before and the car takes off like a rocket yates210456
