SOURCE: when i shift into third the gears grind.. why?

sounds like the syncromesh has gone in the gearbox. If you dont want them to grind, you,ll have to double declutch. I f you cant do this, get a new gearbox.

SOURCE: Tranny wont shift from third gear.

You have a solenoid bad in the trans. Will need to drop the pan to replace part. Most likely a code is stored in the computer to help direct the technician.

SOURCE: MY TRANS WONT SHIFT INTO THIRD GEAR UNTIL IM DOING 45 MPH

Most likely your shift cable (from the selector to the transmission) is worn, maybe needs lubrication. Mine had a similiar problem, but had to shift it into neutral and back up to get it in reverse. A new shift cable solved the problem.

SOURCE: my transmission slips going through second gear if

this problem is a common failure associated with your shift solenoinds inside your tranny. of course a shop is not gonna tell you this because by the time you wanna get it repaired it is usually too late and have already cause damage to your clutch pack and internal parts, thats the main reason why a shop wont mess with just replacing your shift solenoid (aka valve bodie)

My 98 ranger wont change gears.changed trany still the same

If this is a clutch then you need to look into the shift actuator is what I believe it is called. It is a located on your clutch pedal. If this is an automatic it still could be something similar to that.

I have had my tiburon less than a year but about a month ago the transmission started to act weird. At first it began shifting between i think third and fourth gear which made the rpms go higher than they...

the trans computer has seen a problem possible a bad sensor, or an internal problem, and puts it into a safe mode, or limp home mode , it wont shift , it will stay in 3rd gear, this way this reduces the possibility of further damage trans damage, when you turn the ignition off and back on it resets the tcm, my advice is to take it to your local dealer, they can diag your trans as they know the product, i dont advise pep boys, or discount auto parts.
