Have a2002 Hyundai Accent 1.6 L that I can't get gas to go in easy. Takes about 10-15 min. Saw online maybe charcoal canister. If so where is it and how do I take it off? There is no check engine light on, and the car runs great. Hope you can explain this fix so I can fix myself. Thanks Terry

There is a vent that allows vapors to escape while we refill our gas tanks. on your car the vent does connect to a vent valve then to a charcoal canister. you would check the vent valve first then the canister for blockage.

Their shop website says below but you can call the service department. usually you want to tighten it just until it starts to not rotate freely then back off just a little bit. It should spin freely.

Hub bearing starting torque [Limit] : 1.8 Nm (18 kgf·cm, 1.33 lbf·ft) or less

SOURCE: I need to change my starter on my Hyundai 1995

first remove the airbox and everything hooked up to the throttle body to see clearly.if youre car is std you must remove 2 bolts holding the clutch cable on the transmission then remove the pin holding it in place once you remove that you will see 1 of 2 bolts holding the starter in place use flash light to see clearly then remove it (14mm bolts i think ).after you do that the 2nd bolt is 4- 6 in. to the right it might be covered in dirt build up so you might not see it to remove it either through the bottom of car or throught the top.

SOURCE: change hyundai accent 2001 front brake pads

Once the car is jacked up, remove the front tires, then whith a 12 wrench key, remove the bolt that is located on the rear side of the caliper, not the one holding the brake fluid line buth the one right next to it. Pry the brake pad holder off and then remove the brake pads themselves. You will need to press the caliper's piston in, to be able to fit new brake pads since new pads will be thicker.

First GUESS.. replace the charcoal canister after you have cleaned out the hoses between it and the canister. Then blow air between the purge control solenoid valve and the fuel tank.

Manual for Accent 1.5 2001 says do not top up the gas tank. Why? did not know this and then after I filled up the check engine light came on and then went off and then came on again. What is happening? I...

The vehicle is equipped with an evaporitive emissions system consisting of a charcoal canister which absorbs fuel/galoline vapors when you fill the tank. This charcoal canister is at a level below the height of the fuel filler tube. When you fill the tank up to the filler tube neck, it is actually forcing liquid fuel into the canister and over-saturating the charcoal (which restricts the air flow and can clog the system to the point air can't pass through it). This system is monitored by an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic II) routine/test which checks the system for proper opeation. There is a valve called the PCSV (purge control solenoid valve) which, when the engine is running, applies a pulsating vacuum to the hose/line which goes to the canister and sucks the vapors that were trapped in the charcoal back to the engine where they are burned. After over-saturation of the charcoal in the canister, the charcoal (in the form of pellets) begin to crumble/disintegrate and will permanently clog/restrict air flow and the check engine light will come on again and the ECU (Engine Control Unit) will set an evaporative emissions code (P0447 or P0448 or P0445)

MY 2007 accent has a hard time starting only when I put gas in

Your Accent has an Evaporative Emissions System which incorporates a valve, called the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV). If/when it sticks open, it will continually/continuously apply a vacuum to the charcoal canister, creating a 'RICH' mixture condition after re-fueling. The charcoal canister absorbs fuel vapors during refueling. The PCSV operates to vaccum/**** those absorbed vapors from the charcoal canister to the engine intake to burn them. This is most likely the cause of what you describe. Go to www.hmaservice.com and register your vehicle by VIN #..
you'll then have access to wiring diagrams, shop manuals,
service bulletins, illustrations, etc.

Can't get gas into my 2002 Hyundai Accent.

you have a restrictor in the fuel filler neck to stop fuel leaking out if the car overturns, unfortunately it also means you have to hold the fuel gun 1/2 way to stop it shutting off.also to fill right up, you have to rock the car a little when nearly full.autofill guns are only in USA/Canada. you cannot take out thr restrictor......

Error code p1403

p1403 is a problem with the DTML sensor ... thats associated with the charcoal canister ... that is often caused by putting too much gas in the tank (overfilling) ... gas gets into the charcoal canister and contaminates it .. you could also have a bad sensor .. there are two .. one on the throttle body the other on the engine .. sometimes the wiring going to these sensors gets corroded or damaged .. contamination in the canister may clear itself in time if you avoid overfilling ..

Doesn't let the gas fill easily, keeps shutting off , It takes 10 minuts too filll the tank, Found black pellets in gas line??

The problem is your charcoal canister. It is a common problem with the accents and elantras. The new canister costs about $130 and can be found online or through the dealer. Prob. costs more at the dealer.

When I pump gas for my 2000 Hyundai Accent car I can only feed gas in slowly. Otherwiae gas squirts back out of the filler tube. That's my problem. Tom

I checked around on this because I had the same problem on an "05" and it has something to do with the charcoal canister. Depending on your situation I would recommend to just be irritated which is what I did, because if you have it replaced it should be fairly expensive. If you do it yourself you should be able to get the part for maybe less than $100 at a "reputable" junkyard maybe off of a wrecked vehicle, not a piece of ****...there is a website, hyundai forums.com which has quite a few posts on how to replace this if you decide to go that route.
