Honda Accord Key Code

I have a 2006 Honda Accord and just had to put a new battery in. How do you enter the key code? I have the key code but can not find anywhere how to enter it into the stereo so it will work. And since trying all the buttons I've now messed it up where it's displaying "Error E" instead of "Code." It's Sunday and the dealership is closed and tomorrow is Labor Day so any help would be appreciated so I can have a stereo and XM radio again! Thanks!

Thanks Steve. You are correcto-mundo! I was trying to enter the Key Code when I needed to be entering the special radio code. The Key Code had letters in it so that's why I couldn't figure out how to enter letters on #'s 1-6 preset buttons on my radio! I did try 10 times incorrectly and you are right...it shuts it down and in order to reset you have to leave the radio on for at least a half hour. (The manual said an hour but it reset itself sooner than that.) Anyway, I found the radio code (which was all numerical and no letters) and after entering it everything has worked fine. Thanks for your help....Appreciate it!

To get the radio to work you don't enter the "key code" for your keys. You enter the security code for the radio. Two different numbers. if you make 10 attempts and fail, I believe you have to leave the radio on for either a half hour or an hour before retrying with the correct code. If you can't locate the security code for the radio try this:

The code normally comes on a separate document as does key codes or numbers. You could check the owner's manual to see if it was noted in there. (A bad idea.) Also check for a sticker inside your glove box. If that doesn't work then you need to remove the radio/CD player from the dash to get it's serial number from the back of it. Take that number with your VIN to a Honda dealer and they should be able to get your security code for you. They will likely ask for your driver's license & registration to prove you own the vehicle.

How can I program my 2006/7 Honda accord radio, lost memory after removing the battery and replacing new one.

Your car’s audio system will disable itself if it is disconnected from electrical power for any reason. To make it work again, you must enter a specific five-digit code in the Preset buttons. Because there are hundreds of number combinations possible from five digits, making the system work without knowing the exact code is nearly impossible.
You should have received a card with your manual (if you have one) that lists your audio system’s code number and serial number. If you don't have the card, you can get the code number from your Honda dealer, but to do this, you will need the system’s serial number.
If your car’s battery is disconnected or goes dead, or the radio fuse is removed, the audio system will disable itself. If this happens, you will see ‘‘Code’’ in the frequency display the next time you turn on the system. Use the Preset buttons to enter the five-digit code. If it is entered correctly, the radio will start playing.
Hope this is helpful.

Wrong key was put in the ignition now the factory willn't work

If you managed to jam the wrong sidewinder key in the slot, you probably damaged the tumblers. The immobilizer system would simply not read the correct code and would refuse to start the Accord, nothing more. There is not a lock out function for the wrong code. More likely there is a damaged tumbler and you may have to have the Dealer replace it and reset the code.
Take it to a Honda Dealer.

Program my Honda accord Key

I've not heard of Brake Codes working on the 3rd or 4th generation Rolling Code Sidewinder Keys. There is simply no reason to, since a Honda Tech can simply access the Immobilizer System through the HDS (Honda Diagnostic System Laptop) with the Daily Access Security code providec by the Honda System. He can even reflash (reprogram) the ECM using this Daily Code.

In a case like this, normally Honda will have the Accord towed in and do a "All Keys Lost" reset with a new set of keys. This will also prevent your "Lost keys" from being used in the future by who ever may find them.

If you ever buy a used Honda at a Honda Dealership, most likely they also did a complete Key code reset just in case to protect you.

2006 honda accord, after changing the battery. resetting the radio code. the radio will not pick up any stations???

Unless the Accord was jump started, creating possible power surge to damage radio, it should not of had any relationship to the radio.

But, just in case, would suggest disconnecting battery for 5 minutes, reconnecting battery, reentering radio code and see what happens.

If that fails, hopefully your under 36k miles or got the Factory extended warranty "Honda Care" Service plan, so take to the Honda Dealership to see what they say.

Radio code

Clean out your glove box.

Use a flashlight and look for a 5 digits sticker one the left side of the glove box (CLOSER to the radio) or under the truck.

Enter the code with KEY ON (not starting engine) position.

Write this number down on the owner's manual for future reference.
