There isn't a relay on a brake light, just a simple switch on the pedal or a pressure operated switch on the master cylinder. A relay is a device that use a small electrical signal to open and close contacts that carry a large current (amps)
A few few things to remember: Purchase fresh new brake fluid and have a clean MityVac pump (both can be purchased through AutoZone, NAPA, Orielys, etc..) , plenty of clean rags, brake line clamps to stop the fluid from leaking when you initially pull the line off.
Be prepared to bleed ALL the brakes after changing the lines. When bleeding the brakes (after replacing the old lines) work from the caliper that is the longest distance from the brake master cylinder first to the shortest distance line.
Do you still have the old switch and are you sure that the hitch pin is in place holding the switch in the right position there might have been a nylon bushing on the brake pedal shaft that's missing if you press the pedal while looking at the switch and it partially moves this is the problem that switch is not to move and the rod should press in the switches plunger which activates the lights I'm going to try to find a photo watch for the next post
I belive the signals and brake light are the same hook up, think about it, when the signals are flashing it is the same filiment in the bulb that works them,
Dis brakes have residual pressure thar keeps the pads in constant contact with the roter. It is very light contact, so not to worry. If left is not in contact with rotor then chk it for loose wheel bearings.
I would check the trailer light wiring to make sure it doesnt have any wires that are exposed or touching metal.Odds are that is what is causing the fuse to blow
