You didnt mention what engine you have, but if you have the 3.3 or 3.8 liter its actually very simple. Remove the belt, locate the water pump pulley, remove the bolts holding the pulley and the bolts for the water pump are behind the pulley. Remove them and water pump comes out. Reverse steps to install.
Yes theres room. Remember to loosen the water pump pulley bolts first. Then remove belt. To remove belt place awrench on the right side on thelug and lift upwards( Counterclockwise). Remove bolts from pully to move the pulley to access the water pump bolts.
Yes it should be visible when you open the hood. You can also tell that it's the water pump by the weep hole that will be on it. If you're going to replace it though, make sure you buy a book and have a torque wrench. Good luck!
If it's red, it's transmission fluid. Coolant would be green. Check the fluid level, don't let it get low, Chrysler minivans are prone to transmission troubles, and low fluid levels over time will ruin a a transmission. And be sure not to overfill, it's just as bad for the trans. Have the leak checked out and repaired, good luck
