I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4 king cab. After driving for awhile, the service 4x4 warning light on the dash comes on. When the truck is turned off and then back on the light will turn off, but comes back on after driving for awhile.
I have the same problem, I took it in and there was nothing wrong on the computer.I have the same problem, I took it in and there was nothing wrong on the computer.

You need to take it to a dealer or reputable independant and have the 4wd system check...the transfer case controller is detecting some fault in the system

That's your fuses check the accessory fuses they're also labeled parking accessory is the fuse you need to change on that one and make sure you don't put a higher fuse than what it requires
The Internet, though, has a large number of web sites
where you can buy service manuals and schematics
from bookstores, publishers, and other collectors.
Here is just a sampling of what sites are out there:

You seem to have a short circuit, or bad circuit breaker. Most newer trucks use breakers instead of fuses for high amp circuits. Could you have run over something which tore a wire under in part of the 4 WD circuit? Pull fuses/breakers one at a time and try again until you find the one which kills the noise, then repair that circuit.
It could be a cam or crank sensor. Have someone plug a OBD II reader in and pull all the codes.
That will give you some idea.
Please let me know what you find.
the only thing i will recomend you now is to have a load test done to the batterie, this will be done with a batterie tester,
because if voltage is not good when first start then accesories might not work proplelly untill batterie charged
