How do you get gas out of a 2000 Taurus gas tank? My daughter's car is dead, and we filled it up right before the accident.

Because Toyota gas tanks are low,you may have trouble siphoning.Make sure hose and gas can are lower than gas tank.Use rubber hose,now suck on hose till you get gas in your mouth,and put hose quicly into gas can.Repeat if you have to.

If the pump is running but not pumping gas, it's a bad pump or a clogged filter sock in the tank

try not filling it so fast.just cut back the flow a bit and then it wont bubble up to the nozzle and cut out.

change the fuel filter for one, this is telling you that your pick up in the tank is getting clogged, I would drop my tank, and drain it, flush it, and check the pump at that time

When filling your tank, if the fill hose kicks off and/or gas kicks back up the tube it's an indication that the evaporative emissions vent tube is plugged, the cannister vent valve is not working correctly, or that there is a restriction in the fill pipe/hose. Unless the tank or pipe was recently worked on or part of an accident, you can eliminate it. I've found several concerns involing the vent tube and cannister vent valve. Spiders like to make webs inside of these items and the web blocks the air from escaping. When you fill your tank, the air inside needs to go somewhere. If it can't escape, it will cause the gas to back up and shut off the fill handle or kick gas back. There are ways to check this function with a scan tool and pressure machine but you can also do a visual inspection by disconnecting the valve and looking for webs or debris. this car has a closed fuel system,and the air pressure coming back out the filler tube is shutting off the pump,only answer is hold the gun and fill slowly.........do not over fill.

I am told that the gas tank has a problem with the relief tube. You may be filling the car up too much and causing pressure to build up due to the plugged relief. Try to run the car without topping it off. Just fill it untils it clicks the pump off the first time. Take your car in to have the overflow removed.

well you need to find out exactly where it is coming from . tank , line , filler neck , then we can break down the fixing from there .

I think that the accident is very significant information. The fuel system on all cars has a vaccuum recovery system. The vaccuum that the engine produces is hooked to a cannister in the car and a system of hoses which is designed to **** the fumes out of the gas tank so that you do not smell gas inside the car. I would have that hose system checked for leaks. The accident could have damaged one of them. Good Luck. Please post the outcome of your problem.
