Does the motor turn over when you hit the start button? If you just hear a Click, click, click without the motor turning over, then your battery voltage is low and will need to be charged. If your motor actually swings but doesn't fire up, chances are good that it is the fuel pump regulator that had blown. R1200GS 08 09 K25 Part number 16 14 7 720 776 is what you will need.

What maintenance have you done? Changed the plugs, air filter, oil, and such? I would get some sort of fuel treatment to run through the gas tank and carbs. This should clear up any partial clog in the fuel system.

Cold engine set valve clearance at: 0.10 mm intake or about .003" inch. 0.20 mm exhaust or about .007" inch. ---

Had the same problem with my R80RT 1986 model .Suggest to drain the gearbox oil ,if it looks like metal flake paint then definitely bearings . In my case it was the output shaft rear bearing , I replaced all the bearings (except the main bearing on the input shaft because to replace this one requires replacing the shaft as well many dollars) my bike had done 275k K/m (170k miles)

take it to a bike electrician and he will probably charge you $20 to fix it,they know so much more than you do,believe me.

You need to have the key in the barrel and push the detent ball in through the hole in the side of the housing and the lock barrel will lift out
