2004 Honda Shadow Sabre VT1100C2.

Question edited for clarity. Question moved from Honda Cars. In the link you will find wiring diagrams and links to the Honda Shadow forums. Relays either work or they don't and seldom blow fuses. Something is shorting to earth, and wires rubbing on the frame or another item is usually the cause. This is the wiring diagram for the earlier model and only shows two relays for flasher and starter. Not even one on the headlight. https://www.hondashadow.net/threads/wiring-diagram-shadow-spirit-vt1100c.565210/#lg=thread-565210&slide=0 ..

Cuts out 2001 Honda VT 1100 C2 Shadow Sabre

Hi, Luther and the usual suspects are: 1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries. 2. Failed alternator/generator and or voltage regulator. 3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends. 4. A failed main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity. 5. Failed system and or ignition relay, check for continuity. 6. Failed ignition coil, stator, magneto, ignition/electronic module. 7. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets. 8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM. 9. Faulty neutral, side stand or clutch lever safety switch. 10. Faulty or corroded kill switch. 11. Accelerator pump damaged or not working. 12. Water or dirt in the fuel system, carburetor or filter. 13. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line. 14. Fuel tank empty. 15. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked, loosen the gas cap and go for a test ride. 16. A failed fuel pump, pressure regulator and or fuel injectors. 17. Vacuum line from the intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged. 18. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl. 19. Petcock clogged or damaged. 20. Lean angle switch is faulty or needs adjustment. 21. Catastrophic engine failure, perform a compression test. I have a honda shadow sabre 1100. The manual says to check coolant at normal running temp. The level marks are on the exhaust side. Is there a cold method of checking get to keep burns down ..?

Well, to do it properly, you need to check in two places. First, you want to check the overflow bottle. It's a semi-clear bottle usually located near the bottom of the bike, often just behind the engine. You want to be sure the fluid in there is between the min and max levels. Second, you need to check the amount of fluid in the radiator. With the engine cold and the bike on the side-stand, pop the radiator cap off. It is usually located in front of the fuel tank on the right side of the bike. The coolant should be to the very top. If those both check out, you're good to go. Of course, if you don't know the last time it was changed, not is a great time to change it. Use something silicate and phosphate free, like Prestone Extended drain. If you use silicate coolant, it will eat your water pump.

The cooling fan seldom runs on this bike, if you don't have an engine temp warning light on then you have nothing to worry about.

Rough running at high rpm on 1995 honda 1100C2 ACE

Check the condition of the air filter and replace it if dirty. Also, if the spark plugs have more than three or four thousand miles on them, try a new set.

Honda sabre

I have an 04 Honda Sabre 1100 that does the same thing. If the rain is steady, it will actually die. After you come to a stop, it will start right away and run ok for a little while until you get up to speed in the rain and will die again. Very frustrating. Can't see any shorting when viewing in dark conditions. Bike shop also couldn't figure anything out. Any ideas? If I figure anything out, I'll repost what worked for me.

After start it backfires, sputters then runs

Hi,when starting bike you put the chock on,remeber this is to make a richer mixture for cold start,so when you start the bike put put the choke off a little bit as it warms up,other wise wat you are doing is couseing it to floud,so again as the bike warms up put the choke off little bit at a time, all the best.

Had to jump start bike head light tail light and nutruel light not working fuse ok what now?

Hi Randall: Since you had to jump start it I;ll assume that the battery was dead. Have you charged the battery or replaced it? If not, try to charge it using a battery charger. If it won't hold a charge, replace it. Odds are that you'll have solved the problems.
