Dead battery 2006 Honda VTX 1800
Not totally sure I understand, but the battery cranks the car/cycle then the alternator runs and recharges the vehicle and battery. If you jump off and it runs the alternator will continue to run and recharge the battery.
If your battery is bad you can jump and run. If the alternator is bad and battery is low you can jump off and it will run till you remove the jump. You started with the jump but the alternator has to continue to run the vehicle. If it dies the alternator is not putting out or you have loose or wiring connection issues. Check wiring connection issue first. I think it is wiring or alternator problem.
My 1800 VTX Honda wont go into gear and pull after its been ridden for 5 minutes.
Hi there! Mine does the same! Initially I thought it to be the clutch but when I replaced it, the old clutch looked good (almost like the new kit) I installed the new kit anyway! Went for a spin and all good(two mile spin) put my gear on and 5mins later, down it goes! Shifts in and out of neutral but won't move! I mean, you can put it in first gear and release the clutch and won't move! Motor oil is good, clutch fluid good, no leaks anywhere on the bike so what could it be? Anyone knows?
How do I reattach a rear turn signal?
try and reattach the unit some have a system where a hard jolt or bump or dropping the bike will allow the unit to separate easily rather than damage the fender
it may be a simple undo of the screw and reattaching it back through the rubber mount
How to test ignition coil
Test for spark at plugs. remove Plugs, Attach wires to plugs, hold to cylinder fins. turn engine with starter.
How to do a chain adjustment
From the pictures I have seen this bike has shaft drive to the rear wheel no adjustment is necessary. If you are referring to the cam chains sorry I don't have any knowledge on that, you need to get a workshop manual.
Honda vtx 1800
Did you check the battery, and clean the terminals? If the battery is down, the lights will work but it won't have enough power to turn the starter. I hope this helps.
Just started. Bike runs fine until I shift into 1st, then it shuts off (Clutch is pulled in of course). Is ther a clutch switch that causes this?
You didn't say WHICH VTX 1800 you had (there's about 10), C, N1, N2, N3, R1, R2, R3, S1, S2, or S3, or I'm going with the C.
This year/model DOES have a clutch switch that the clutch lever operates off of.
It also has a side stand switch.
The problem could be this, also.
