If Your battery is ok and there is no corrosion on the terminals or cable ends, then your next step is to check the stator and the voltage regulator/rectifier. Easy - follow instructions - do not tear the brake lines, put copper grease on all bolt/screws you use, do not overtighten them. if you have to remove chain guard keep it for when you sell.

As the triumph is a British bike, the speedo reads in MPH. You can get stickers off the internet (ebay) that you can stick on the speedo glass to remind you of the KPH speeds.

Also be aware that my Triumph speedo from around 12 years ago read faster than I was actually doing any way, even at speeds of only 50kph!

At this stage and the info I have. I would check my fuses and breakers for the lights and ignition. You can also try to turn the key on and push start to see if it will fire. If this fails then you may have a bad ignition, or the guts to the switch have came loose and not resting in the correct positions for the barrel to do its job. Unfortunatly to me it sounds more like the key switch is not working correctly. time to call the people who fixed it the forst time and get a refund or have them fix this.

Hi, barry,is the bike actualy running ok? Is the oil clean its not unusual to find this around the filler cap, especialy if the bike does short journeys, as the bike doesnot get hot enough this gunge as you call it is produced, clean the cap out, run the machine on a longer journey and recheck it, paul

Was it notice able right after the service? It sounds like they didn't get it to oil pressure before starting the engine, doing this can damage the bearings on camshaft and small end. So now it needs more oil pressure to level out the damage to the shells.

That is usually indicative of a fuel supply issue. Check the Petcock is open and working. Strip and clean the carb fuel bowls and jet.

You are probably describing a frozen clutch caused by a long period of disuse - the clutch plates long pressed together under the pressure of strong springs have become frozen together. Sometimes only dismantling the clutch will cure the problem. Lots of people just keep the revs low and jam it into gear and hope the shock loading will do the trick. A much kinder method is to start the engine with first gear selected and go for a ride - changing gear without the clutch is quite a trick but possible. Keep the clutch lever pulled and by the time the engine is developing high torque in a high gear most clutches would become unfrozen...

(then then phish you and bam) not sure the question so will answer both. 1: mpg wrong, 2; WHAT IS THE RESERVE gallons missing in the book. ok MC 101 Are motorcycles new to you ,(ive owned too many to count) back to 1965 in fact, even had a real Triumph TR6 car (pure love there) OK MPG:? 865cc twin. guessing 35mpg. 45mpg on long trips. 2.5 gallons . EFI injection no EFI fuel pump likes running dry, so I bet dollars to donuts they don't make that easy. This the early warning light. Sounds like an ignition module is going open after warming up. Check for spark after it is warm and doesn't run.
