Triumph T120 1968 spark problems

Hi, I would suspect that the dual coil is the problem, normally on the Bonnie you have a spark every other stroke. Because the engine is a parallel twin (both pistons go up and down at the same time) you are firing both plugs every time the pistons are on the ignition stroke. This is why you get a shock the HT has to go somewhere and you are releasing this to the frame when you take out a plug. Dual output coils are really designed for 4 cylinder bikes where the second spark can be lost during the firing cycle. Most old Honda's CB400/500/550/750 used the dual coil ignition system. You need to have a coil for each plug as you had before. Hope this helps

Triumph keeps cutting out when put into first gear

Probably the kickstand safety switch has gone bad or is loose. The safety kills the engine when you put it in gear to keep you from riding off with the stand down. This is assuming your bike has one as I don't see the model & year listed with your question but most modern bikes have them, also assuming you've raised the stand before putting it in gear. If you can find the connector, disconnect it and put a piece of wire in it to close the circuit, then try to put in gear again. If it works and the switch isn't just loose you know you need the switch replaced. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/oscar_403cc49e0f00cda7

My triumph tt600 shuts off when the temperature hit 220F it will restart at about 190 but shuts off again at 220

If I remember correctly, 220F is the set cut off temperature so at least that shows that part is working. The cooling fan should cut in before it gets that high so I would check that all is working there. Maybe by-pass the temp sensor to have the fan running all the time and see if that stops the temp rising so high. If it doesn't then maybe you have a blockage in your cooling system or the thermostat is faulty (not opening to allow coolant flow)

Just refitted twin su carbs to my triumph 13/60, carbs have been unset, have refitted them but cant start the car. plugs and points replaced and adjusted

Must narrow it down. Try some starting fluid, if it starts on that you know it's a fuel problem, if it doesn't then it's either a spark issue or something went wrong with the head installation and/or valve adjustment. How do I change the spark plugs on a triumph daytona 650

on the bikes from the 50s and 60s a torque wrench on a short plug socket would get them out without removing the tank unless the tank was modified. and you want to replace them with never seize and torque to speck. you should be using a good shop manual and following its specs and procedures to avoid big money foulups

I have a 1998 triumph sprint 900cc. It has been running all the time with the temperature gauge just off the C mark. The other day the gauge went to half way when in built up area but dropped down to

Halfway is actually normal in range for liquid cooled bikes. Gauge may have previously been faulty, but running at rest, fan will engage and engine will stay warm. As long as you're not near the red warning area, and your fluid level is OK, then you're in optimum temperature range. Hope that helps.
