Hi, Saleh that all depends on your current muffler if it's a stock OEM muffler that is in excellent condition then you would have to seek the advice of a muffler expert to fabricate something for you but if it has rusted holes or has a broken baffle or you have an aftermarket performance muffler installed then a new OEM muffler would quiet down the offending noise..

- this problem might be a worn variator belt/rollers - Vespa technology requires a variator-belt service every 10'000miles
- contrary to the belief that the carburetor causes such trouble it is a common issue with Vespa engines that people are not doing the replacement of the variator belt in due time...

The biggest villain on a PX is the wire sheathing from the stator to the outside of the engine, it gets chafed off and causes an earth out.

Also check the frame to engine earth, CDI and coil earth's as they are susceptible to corrosion which breaks the connection.

CDi/Coil and regulator units do fail when they get hot and can exhibit the symptoms before they shut down, when they cool down they work again so maybe get a load test done on those or replace with a borrowed known good unit.

Soft and hard seizing can be caused by damaged cylinder, piston rings, cracked crown, cracked piston, also a failing exhaust will cause merry hell with running.

Hi, David before testing any electrical component in the Starting Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Engine Run Switch is "FAULTY" or corroded.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
5. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
6. FOB battery low or dead.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Faulty starter button.
9. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
10. Security alarm needs a reset.
11. Starter relay, solenoid, starter motor or circuit wiring faulty.
12. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
13. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
14. Faulty ignition relay.
15. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
16. Check for engine trouble codes.

most probably the speedo-cable at the front wheel is broken - this happens quite often after some years of use. - replace it with a new one.

in front of the kickstart lever is a nut bolt which you must unscrew.
- but before you do that you need to mark the precise position on the lever axle with a permanent marker - after removing the bolt you can tear off the lever (use WD40 and wobble action)

some people try to access the spark-plug from under the seat..
- however the easiest way is to unmount the rear shock absorber (1 screw at the bottom) and rise the Vespa to reach the spark plug....
- this is far better than to reach it from above....
the only thing which has to be taken care of is not to lower the rear wheel too much-otherwise the spark-plug cable will be ripped out.

possible air leak, check your vacuum lines. There should be one coming off the carb and gas tank. You may want to check your wheel hub bearings and rear brake shoes. Now that you provided a little more details about your problem, i would forget about the vacuum lines, and look at those wheel bearings.
