GS550 carburator floods with fuel evident from
I had the same problem with my 550. I had fuel flowingout of the second carb overflow. The problem for my bike was a stuck needle valve. WhatI had to do was to take the bottom of the float assembly off, to take the float off and to spray some carb cleaner into the needle valve to get it not to stick. However, the problem was junk coming from the tank and clogging up the valve, so in ten minutes I had the same problem again.
What I did this time was to install a small in-line filter between the tank and the fuel intake for the carbs. It looks a bit wonky, but I've run it now for over a week without having the same problem flare up again.
Runs for a while then stalls and petrol flus out
Could be a stuck needle and seat causing the engine to flood and die,in which case you will have to remove said carby and inspect . you could try tapping the float bowl to free up the float . Use medium taps with a length of wood,it's more of a shock and awe tactic . May work for awhile then it's back to square one.Goodluck ..PJ.
Need coil wiring diagram
Contact points cover open.
Left side points are for cylinders 1 and 4.
Right side points are for cylinders 2 and 3
Left side points have a White wire coming from it.
Right side points have a Black wire coming from it.
One coil runs two cylinders.
One coil runs cylinders 1 and 4.
One coil runs cylinders 2 and 3.
No matter what style of ignition coil you use, the Black wire will connect to the Points. Whatever other color of wire they use, connects to the ignition switch.
BUT, check the specifications for the coils you're going to install. Connect the Negative side to the points. The Positive side to the ignition switch.
The Orange wire with a White stripe, coming out of the harness of the Suzuki Gs550 is from the ignition switch. It goes to a splice connector, and from there goes to two wires. The wires split off into one wire for each coil.
There is a White wire on the coil, that is used for Cylinders 1 and 4.
There is a Black wire on the coil, that is used for Cylinders 2 and 3.

When you reassembled the bike did you pinch any of the wiring harnesses? Trace the wiring through the bike and make sure everything has a solid connection between their respective power sources and activation switches. Alot of time bikes run wiring under the gas tanks so you need to make sure that you didnt cut anything when pputting it back on (if you removed the tank)
I have a 1980 Suzuki
clutch pushrod should just pull out as it should be a 2 piece clutch pushrod model, earlier models were 1 piece and you had to remove clutch cover and pressure plate to remove. hopefully the seal is ok.
