1980 Suzuki Gs 550 L - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My issue with my bike is constant fuel overflow,
Your petcock needs to be rebuilt (if parts available), or replaced, if it does not shut off the fuel. It also may not be saving reserve fuel , if gas is bypassing the ON position. You may also need a new fuel filter .Maybe add an additional in line filter. If you have replaced the float needles and the carbs are still overflowing you probably have a problem with rust in the tank. Have the inside of the tank cleaned or use a rust removal kit on the tank and see if this does not solve the problem. Try to avoid fuel tank liners if possible , they can cause more problems than they solve.

Suzuki gs550 fuel
Are you asking if lead free fuel will work in this model then the answer is maybe. It all depends on the valve guides and seats that were fitted. Check with your local Suzi agent. If the answer is no then you could consider a lead pack in the tank. I know these work for old autos I'm not sure about bikes though.
What would make my main fuse on my gs 550 keeps blowing
Not certain at all, but I would think you probably have a short in the circuit somewhere. Have you inspected all the electrical on the bike? Really not too difficult, I had to do the same thing last year since I couldn\'t get mine to turn over. Remove the gas tank (quite easy, a single bolt under the seat), and inspect all the wiring for either a corroded wire or a short which is touching steel and grounding the circuit somewhere. In the end, on mine, it was the horn which was breaking my circuit. Hope that helps, or it\'s at least somewhere to start. Some one else might have better advice. Good luck!
How to adjust the throttle slack on a 1980 gs550l suzuki
Don't ask such questions here is advisable to you, as setting your vehicle on anybody else's remote instructions maybe of harm to you and your vehicle, I'll suggest you to contact a Professional Mechanic to do so, he'll need your own experience at both RPMs and then will set one to your choice, according to your Test Drive at both.
Gas in the motor
Sounds like you have a sticking float in your carb that is letting the fuel leak through the carb and into your motor. You need to remove the carb and clean and check float and drain the oil and replace with new.
When i hit the throttle hard it bogs down it also
When you say it won't rev past 6k what happens? Does it bog down and eventually choke itself out?sounds like the carb needs a good cleaning. Have you replaced the fuel and air filter? If you take the air filter off does it run better or worse?
