On a suzuki gsx400f how do i set mixture on carbs
The year makes a big difference, but normal carb mixture starting position is 1.5 turns out, not all the way in. But mixture normally does not effect starting. Usually backfiring is timing or jumped chain? But can happen if a float is stuck and gas pouring in.
It will not rev up
Not farmiliar with the model But you are reading positive on the neg. side of the coil because it is not grounding off & on through the points or Black box ignition system. That's what makes the coil spark. If you touch a grounded wire to the NEGATIVE side of the coil, You should see spark each time you break the gound connection. Now you need to see why your CDI system is not working. Most of the time, It is a bad pulser coil on the input to the Black Box, Possibly the Black Box but rare for most models ( check on your model with a serv. tech. ) It is not the ignition coil. It has good continuity & B+ power to it. Also a serv. tech for that model could tell you if it has any other Safety Systems that would kill thr spark for a reason.
My Suzuki gsx400E -82 doesn't
Sounds like the starter is dragging, when the bike gets hot the starter barely turns. And those bikes don't actually have an alternator. It's like a magneto system that keeps the battery from draining, but doesn't actually charge the battery. I would take the starter off and have it tested.
Alternator don't charge the battery, change carbon?
It will be a permanent magnet alternator, there are no carbon brushes, you will need a manual for that model and start checking resistances with a multi meter.
without being able to tell you exact readings...
there will be three wires the same color coming from the stator(usually all yellow or all white) the resistance between any pair must be the same, and none of them should indicate to ground. When the bike is running any pair of these will produce about 50volts AC.
If this checks out you probably need a new regulator
Hi problem with my gsxr 400 replaced the engine
there is not too many combinations of firing order to check.
one coil fires plug 1 and 4
the other coil fires 2 and 3
just turn the flywheel past the pick up for 1,4 and make sure the coils are correct
the only other things that could happen in a straight engine swap are exhaust and inlet gasket leaks and incorrect fuel line , vacumn hose.
I assume all the wiring is replaced in the correct plugs
I have gsx 400 f
means dont go that high-cud blow engine-its only a 400-not made like the big boys--thats a classic bike harder to find parts
When the on/off switch on
There is a hot wire going into the switch. Somewhere at the switch or after the switch the power is going to ground. It could be a bad switch ( they all gotta go sometime ), or an abraded wire is grounding out on the frame somewhere after the switch. Check the switch with a multimeter and check the wire coming out of the switch.
My lights come on when the key is half turned but
It sounds like the ignition switch is wearing out, when you turn the key it turns some spirng loaded contacts onto some pins attached to the wires, as the switch wears the contacts may not turn far enough or go too far and past the terminal for the lights.
They can somtimes be repaired, but often easier to find another one
1981 gs1100
lost all spark after
get the spark plugs and coil checked. Also check the power to battery and battery starter connection. If there is a loose connection or wire short then this problem can occur. Most probably its short spark-plugs.Which has to be checked and replaced in your Suzuki gsk.
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this
solution and show your appreciation.
