I don't completely understand what you describe. If you are asking does your engine start and stop because of the (start) solenoid, the answer is no. The start solenoid ONLY operates when you press the start button. There is a possibility there is a loose wire on the battery side of your start solenoid ...and that is what I would be looking for, a loose and/or dirty connection.

Did you pull a plug and see it not sparking? What condition are the plugs in? How about spark plug wires, are you sure they are not arcing? If not that a resistance test on the coil/s can confirm if they are functioning properly or not. Of course, this is all assuming you don't have the ingnition kill switch engaged :)

If you turned the engine off with the kill switch and not the ignition key the headlight will stay on.
Make sure you turn the ignition key off.
