Hi, Gregg great first name and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
8. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2 and/or BAS).
11. Security alarm needs a reset.

The torque spec for a chutch nut on a 900 is 180-190Nm (136 ft. lb.) The torque spec for the clutch housing bolts (presure plate) is 30-34 Nm (23 ft. lb.)

but that doesn't tell much. LT at Desmotimes is out for a while. Can someone just provide me with the intervals for valve adjustmens checks etc? I plan on changing the oil and filter every 4000 or so because it will take me quite a while for that milage any way. I'll adjust the chain as needed though, the measurements are a bit confusing.,check valves every 6,000 miles (6213 miles is when the maint reminder comes on). new belts every 12,000 miles or two years whichever occurs first.,,,

how many miles are S4 owner donnin' on their bikes? Myself I'm rocking 23k on a 2002 so feel free to post up.when i have M750 in 1.5year i take 28.000km then i have M900 in 2years i drive it for 35.000km and now i have S4RS and in 2 months i done 11.000km and this bike i wont sell it,,,

If the battery is charged and has 12 volts across it, there is a poor connection, probably a fuse holder or corroded cable.
You will have to fault find. I use a 12volt lamp as a voltage checker and follow the cables until the light gets dim.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, with or without gas, soon as the ignition switch is turned on, the fuel pump should run. This would be both heard and felt slightly.

Offhand, removing the plugs after giving it a start would also tell you if the injectors are spraying fuel inside the combustion chamber; the tips would be wet. That said, it would also give you an indication as to the quality of the fuel.

Additionally, the crack though significant may only be on the surface. A test if the coils are working is to start the bike with the sparkplugs off but connected to their wires and laid on any metal part of the engine. There would be spark on their tips when cranking / starting.

Incidentally, it may be stale fuel along the lines that would have gunked up or varnish like coated the injectors. Add injector cleaner to fresh tank of gas.

Clearance issues aside, you need the proper mounts. If they make them, they will work, aside from tank clearance issues. If they don't make the proper kit, just don't do it. Handlebars are not something to experiment with when you're traveling down the highway at 60+ mph. Ever had a simple grip come off? Not fun, trust me.

to check to see if its an electrical problem it the starter button it self find the starter relay take a wrench or a screw driver and make contact between the 2 copper posts that are sticking out from the relay if it turns over than you will know that it is the push button if it doesn't turn over than you know that its the starter. The turn- bank sensor may think you have wrecked or just tipped over the bike. It may need to be replaced. Have you had to lay it down lately? Usually they reset after being turned on again after a lay down. It might not be resetting. Good Luck with that one.
