Hi, Joe proper oil weight is based on the average temperatures you expect to ride in between scheduled maintenance services the higher the temperature the heavier the oil and the cooler the temperature the lighter but to answer your question 20 w 50 is the standard weight for most conditions, using a Synthetic blended oil (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) will be added protection for those unpredictable weather conditions. If you are still unsure refer to your owners manual and give your local Harley service department a call for their recommendation for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can not find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Harley, despair not, for a mere zero $ you can download another one. Hi Josh_brown, always check your instrument fuse before performing the next procedure, try cleaning your speed sensor located on top of the transmissions right side between the top cover and the chrome starter end cap on Twin Cams and on top of the engine case between the rear cylinder and the starter motor for Sportsters. Remove the the bolt that secures the sensor and pull it out of the transmission. Inspect sensor for obvious damage and repace if necessary. If sensor has no damage then wipe clean any obvious contamination like micro fiberous material with a clean rag and reinstall, torque bolt to 8 ft lbs. Next check the connector to the speedometer for correded, broken or loose pins/sockets. Good luck and have nice day.

Had the same problem on my 2003 years ago, and corrected the issue by replacing the wires in the headlight shroud and the connection plug. (Wires were somewhat fried for some reason, and were reducing voltage at the terminals, causing a high current condition.
