I just bought chrome fork sliders how do i remove

If you remove the front wheel, front brake caliper, and front fender and look on the very bottom of the slider where the axle came out, you'll see an 8mm socket head bolt. If you remove this bolt, the slider will come off.

But before you do that, I'd advise draining the oil from the fork leg and releasing the spring tension on the slider by removing the fork tube plug and removing the spring. To get to this plug, you'll probably have to remove the windshield, the nachelle, and the top cap. Then loosen the clamp bolt in the lower triple tree and allow the fork to slide down and out of the triple trees.

When you refill the fork with oil. Use the same amount and viscosity as what was in there. Thicker viscosity and more oil has a tendency to "stiffen" the fork.

Good Luck

How to retrieve fault codes

1- Turn IGNITION SWITCH to OFF & Run/Stop switch is to Run. 2- Push odometer reset button in & hold. 3- While holding odometer reset button, turn IGNITION SWITCH to Ignition and release odometer reset button. Background lighting sould illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engine and cruise) should illuminate. The word "diag" should then appear. 4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPt" with the first P flashing. 5 - Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer reset button one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.) P = ECM/ICM (Electronic Control Module [EFI] / Ignition Control Module[Carbureted]) S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Turn Signal Security Module) SP = speedometer T = tachometer 6 - To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word "none" will appear if there are no DTC's. Push the odometer reset button again to view additional codes if they exist. 7 - Record the codes. 8 - If DTC's are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer reset button. Part number of module will be displayed. NOTE: To determine if a code is current or historic, clear the displayed code by pushing in and holding the odometer reset button (longer than 5 seconds) until 'clear' comes up. Release the odometer reset button. Turn OFF the ignition switch. Run your bike and shut it down then recheck the DTC's again by repeating steps 1 to 9. If the code is current it will reappear. 9 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module. 10 - Turn Ignition switch to OFF. On models not equipped with a tachometer "No Rsp" will appear when the TACHOMETER identifier is selected. "No Rsp" (no response) will also appear if the run/off switch is in the off position when doing this procedure.

Can you tell me how

If your bike has the 41mm fork tubes, (measure the upper fork tube diameter), like a wide glide. there are two measurements. If you simple drain the tubes and refill, you use the "wet" measurements. If you disassemble and clean up the inside of the tubes, use the "dry" measurement. The book says use "type E" oil.

Wet - 10.2 oz
Dry - 11.2 oz.

Lost my FOB I have a new one but I cant turn the

OK so here is your solution. from your dealer when you purchased your bike with the alarm system you were given a 5 digit pin number. in order to turn it off manually you need to unlock (if locked) the switch, turn it to accessory.
push both left and right blinker buttons in
with the left blinker button is you "digits" so if (ex 56726) push the left button five times
to go to the next button push the right blinker one time then left six times
the right blinker one time and left blinker seven times
then right two times right once
left six times and right once. this will turn off the alarm

to program the fob you need to turn the ignition switch in a sequence of
on off on off on
with the blinker buttons you push
left left right left and your signals will flash the hazards twice
push and hold the fob button till the hazards blink three times and you have just programed your fob
push and hold your fob to set alarm and double click to disarm your alarm

Sounds like you have a bad connection. Make sure the battery connections are tight. If they are, check all the connections at the ignition switch, then the main wiring harness.

How do you replace the speed sensor on a 2005 softail deluxe

The sensor is located on the top right rear of the transmission case. it is held in place by an allen bolt. Follow the wires back to the rear of the bike to find the electrical connection. Remove the allen bolt and twist the sensor side to side while pulling up on it. Once it is out, check the end of it for debris. it is a magnet, so if there are metal shavings on the end of it, clean them off and put the sensor back in and test ride the bike. Sometimes cleaning off the debris will make the speedo work again. If the speedo still won't work, replace the sensor.

Handlebars brake switch replacement

It is a plunger style switch and is located inside the right handlebar contol. Cut the wires about 2 inches or so from the old switch. Solder the wires from the new switch to the wires you cut from the old switch. Cover the solder joints with heat shrink tubing. Be careful when reinstalling the front brake lever so you don't damage the plunger on the new switch.

Two different ways to drain the tank. The first option is to use a squeeze bulb pump ( like the one for a boat motor ) The second option is to rtermove the cross over tube off of one side of the front of the gas tank. Have a container ready to catch the gas, and a 1/4" cap to put over the tube that you removed the hose from. Be quick because once you start it is tough to stop with out making a real mess.

My driving/passing lights wont come

The driving lights probably have their own fuse wired inline with the power lead. You'll have to trace it the power lead from the switch back to wherever it's wired into the harness. You'll find the fuse between the switch and the harness. This is the way it should be wired anyway.
