Charge battery without removing seat on 2006 flstn
Yes, you can charge the battery without removing the seat but you must be able to get to the large cable connection on you starter. Connect the positive lead to this large connection and the negative lead to the engine at any convenient location.
The best thing to do is purchase one of the "Smart Chargers". They come with a "pigtail" that has a quick plug on it. Remove the seat and install the pigtail on your battery then reinstall the seat with the pigtail hanging out in a very inconspicious place. When you finish a ride, simply plug the pigtail to the charger. You'll always have a "hot" battery and your battery life will be greatly extended.
I recently bought a 2005 softail deluxe and was
If you are buying a multitester also consider buying a small motorcycle battery charger. They make ones that have a remote charging cable that you put on the battery one time and then you have an easy way to connect the small charger up when the bike it sitting for long periods. This will keep the battery fully charged and ready to go when you are.
Some batteries are sold only partially charged and you need to bench charge them fully before running them on the bike. Depending on your bikes energy demands the battery may never fully charge up during regular use.
If you put the multitester on DC voltage check the battery to see what its resting charge state is.
If the battery is reading less than 10.6 volts its probably down too low the recharge itself using the bikes alternator. Charge it until its resting voltage is 12.0 volts. Then your bikes alternator can make enough juice at 14-15 volts to recharge the battery while its running.
Good luck and be careful.
2006 HD Softail Deluxe. Has a new battery. Driven
Check the battery voltage. Without the charger on it, it should have about 12.5 volts. With the charger on it, it should read somewhere around 14.0 - 14.5 volts. When you try to start the bike, if the battery voltage drops below 9 volts, the battery is bad.
I know you said that the battery is new but some people call a battery that is two years old new. The solftail is notoriously rough on batteries. The reason is that the battery is "inside" the horseshoe oil tank. The hot oil in the tank exposes the battery to higher temperature levels that on other models. Also, motorcycle batteries are subjected to more vibration that car batteries. So, "new" has different meaning on a motorcycle battery. Still, I've seen brand new batteries go bad. Take the battery out and take it to an automotive parts house. They'll usually load test the battery free of charge for you.
If it turns out that you battery checks good, make sure that all your electical connections to it are clean. Follow the positive cable down to the starter and make sure this connection is good as well.
The flickering lights tells me that you either have an internal short in the battery or a very bad electical connection to the battery somewhere. Good Luck.
Turn signal wont cancel
Under the seat is a TSS or a TCS ?? sensor, it should be combined with the BAC "Bank angle sensor". The yop of the relay is all you can see, it is about a 2" square, and once you lift if out it is about 5 or 6" long. The usual cost for it is $ 58 to $68. I hope this helps, I am having the same issue on my Harley, but on the BAC side of the sensor.
Good Luck,
Paul

Either one of your bulbs is faulty or burned out, or the socket is rusty. remove the lenses on both lights, remove the bulbs and check them closely. replace with identical bulbs, and use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts, both on the bulbs and in the sockets.

Don't know if this will help but more and more goofy electrical problems on newer hogs are linked to faulty alarm systems.sometimes using fob instead of key to reset alarm sometimes works.Just a shot maybe something to check out.

The best way to do this is to get a clean containe and carefully drain the fork oil into it and measure how much came out nad replace the same amount.
I use a measuring cup from an automotive paint store.

Try holding your key fob button down for about 20 seconds. This may resync the alarm. If that doesn't work, it's most likely in the speedo. You can try cleaning the speed sensor for the speedo. It is magnetic and picks up metal shavings which short it out. Pull it out of the trans and wipe off the shavings.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO REMOVE TO GET TO THE BATTERY
Remove the seat. The battery is in the "horseshoe" oil tank. You can get to both battery post by simply removing the seat.
Disconnect the negative post first. Then connect the pigtail for the Battery tender to the postive post. Connect the negative side of the pigtail to the negative post last. This way you won't get any unwanted "sparks".
