How do you replace the speed sensor on a 2005 softail deluxe

The sensor is located on the top right rear of the transmission case. it is held in place by an allen bolt. Follow the wires back to the rear of the bike to find the electrical connection. Remove the allen bolt and twist the sensor side to side while pulling up on it. Once it is out, check the end of it for debris. it is a magnet, so if there are metal shavings on the end of it, clean them off and put the sensor back in and test ride the bike. Sometimes cleaning off the debris will make the speedo work again. If the speedo still won't work, replace the sensor.

Handlebars brake switch replacement

It is a plunger style switch and is located inside the right handlebar contol. Cut the wires about 2 inches or so from the old switch. Solder the wires from the new switch to the wires you cut from the old switch. Cover the solder joints with heat shrink tubing. Be careful when reinstalling the front brake lever so you don't damage the plunger on the new switch.
