1985 Honda GL 1200 Ltd. Ed. - SE-i Gold Wing Questions & Answers
My goldwing will occasionally stop running after
Your bike has an in-line fuel filter and I'll bet $$ that it is clogged and needs to be replaced. It is located just aft of the carburetors, above the rear of the engine. The other possibility, although quite rare, is that the gas cap vent is plugged.
I HAVE A 1985 GOLDWING A THE RADIO DOSE WORK BUT
Hello,
You can try a cassette tape cleaner 1st. You can get them almost anywhere. If that does not work, please see the following:
Any qualified stereo technician can work on your Tape Player in the radio. Look for an electronics repair shop in your local area. It probably only needs a good cleaning and possibly a belt or two.
Hope this helps. If you find this information useful, please vote on this post. Thank you.

1985 Honda Goldwing that sat out side for years.
The GL1200 is equipped with a hydraulic clutch. Make sure the reservoir is full and bleed the system. If that does not make the clutch work you may have to rebuild the master cylinder and buy new o-rings for the clutch slave cylinder . Then you should get enough pressure in the system to operate the clutch.
Radio tape player has very very low sound.
cassette style ??? wow !!! the reading surface in the player is either 1: corroded (use a cleaner, try radio shack) 2: surface is 20 years old and plum wore out...get the MP3 player...
My wing gl1200 i burnt the wire from what i think
The alternator on that bike sends three phase ac voltage to the rectifier/regulator where it is rectified(changed to DC) and regulated to 12 volts, all this means to you is that it does not matter which yellow wire hooks where, just make a good repair and insulate it good. Once the repair is made you can check to see if it is charging by probing the yellow wires with the engine running, and the plug plugged in, rev the engine to 4 or 5 thousand rpms and you should see about 80 volts AC.
Self leveling now will only put 25 lbs. in rear
This sounds as if the line for the rear solenoid has become clogged with deteriorated dessicant or corrosion. The front solenoid is set for no more than 14 lbs before bleeding off. A cleaning of the air distributor and relief valve could be the solution.
GL1200 LTD not keeping battery charged while riding
check the stator conetion that is next to battery(three yellow wires and prob.one melted three wire gang plug). if not melted check all 3 wires to ground there should be no continuity.then check all 3 wires for 1-5ohms of res. if you have cont. to ground stator must be replaced. if stator checks good repair wires if melted and recheck dc output at battery. if still not charging at 14.DC volts check reqtifier/regulator. under your glove box to the left side.
