1987 Honda CBR 1000 F Questions & Answers
I have an intermitant probem with my 1987 Honda
The question I have is, does the headlamp get supply from the same place as the ignition switch? If it does, chase the cable back to find the break or you can cheat and run a fresh cable from the battery fuse to the ignition switch. That would prove the theory.
Hope that helps.
My 1987 1000 hurricane does
Sounds like the slides on the carbs are sticking. When the engine is under a load it draws a lot more vacuum that just sitting & blipping the throttle...Lube your cables, check throttle stops, and check for vacuum leaks around the carb boots...would be the areas to first inspect. I hope this helps.
Cbr 1000f 1987
chance is something is loose and as the engine warms up it takes up the slack due to the metals expanding, try to track the location of the noise. this is an older bike and internal components may be worn out, and until oil gets there and engine warms up this would be normal. try using oil for high milage engines and some slick 50 treatment if you dont find anything loose. (like engine mounts, pipe mounts etc)
I have a 93 cbr 1000f and was wondering if the

No spark
check pulse generators first, i found one burnt and one was open on my 87 hurricane 600. Ohm the wires out for opens or low ohm readings readings, they should be about 400ohms or more. if thats good then check out spark unit..if thats good then check to see if coils wires are getting 12v. Then if that is good check resistance of primary and secondary plug wires. or just replace them anyway and that one less thing to worry about. you have new plugs and wires. it can only really be the coils or pulse generator. hope this get you in the ballpark can iget a helpful on this thanks but if i helped you fix it by checking the pulse generators i'd like a very helpful, appreciate!
Clutch does not engage fully and wont go to
The last time I saw one of these bikes, (back in 1995 or '96) I was able to improve the clutch performance quite a bit by adjusting the cable at the lever. I don't recall as to whether or not they offered a hydraulic clutch actuator, (the one I worked on was a cable) but if they did you can try bleeding it.
Sorry I don't have a manual that I can get the procedure from, try checking with your local dealer if possible, they should be able to provide the service information. If not I believe there is a Hayes manual available.
Good luck.
Carb float on a 1988 hondahurricane
With the float installed turn the carb upside down so the float is pointing up adjust the tab until you see the underside of the float is parrellel to the carberator's metal flat body section. This setting will provide the proper fuel level in the carb providing the proper maintained level of fuel for performance around tight turns as well as idling.
I am getting black **** in the clutch slave
I had the same problem with a cars clutch. Get yourself a kit and take the whole lot apart, that is the total hydraulics involved with the clutch. Clean it out and fit the new rubbers and O rings etc. You will think it is a different bike after.
I KEEP GETTING ABUILD UP OF PRESSURE IN THE
hi,might be able to help,i dont want to be the bearer of bad tidings but generally the only thing that will do that is the exhaust gasses getting into the cooling system, which will then pressurize the system and blow the water out of the overflow bottle, you may find that the head gasket on your bike has failed,i would recommend getting it checked over fairly quickly because if you dont 1 of 2 things will happen,1 all of the water will get blown out when you least need it and the engine will overheat(this normally happens miles from anywhere in the dark and it is raining)or the engine will start to cough splutter and die as water in the cylinders doesnt burn nearly as well as petrol, this will also happen miles from anywhere in the dark and the rain, hope this helps...cheers ian
The motor has a rattle when first cranked...after
That is a typical sound on any 1987 CBR1000f. It stems from the cam chain slaping inside the case. An adjustment can make the sound go away for a few thousand miles, however it will inevitably come back. If its realy bad (aka, doesnt go away over 1700 RPM) then you should probably adjust. Typicaly there is no problem, and just let the bike warm up and the oil pump all the way arround before wraping it up. Hopes this helps.
