How do i measure cc on the motorbike
CC is cubic centimeter. It's a measurement for fluid. There is a measuring cup called "ratio rite" that is made for this. Most any motorcycle dealer has these.

Honda backfiring
This sounds more like it is exploding fuel that is in the exhaust system. I think you are losing ignition for short periods. Backfire is a discharge from the carburetors. Investigate whatever causes the plugs to fire, points, cd box with inductive firing. Look for loose components or wiring at anything with screw terminals.
I own a honda steed 600 v twin. the side stand
Dont know what the filter got to do with it, but side stand switches are normally closed when retracted, simply wiring the two ends together will give continuity till you get around to repairing the wires which are located on the stand pivot arm, lay bike over and look under, likelihood is wires are damaged around swinging arm area, so you must connect wires prior to break and insulate. PS, disconect battery first.

Problem with transmission? 1993 Honda Shadow VT600
A couple of things can come into play here. First, there is no such thing as a "short gear". That was B.S. just to sell the bike. The bike could have a bent shift fork that doesn't quite move the slider all the way over for a full gear engagement. The problem could also be a couple of broken teeth on the meshing of second gear. The most likely is a bent shift fork. It really doesn't matter much which problem it is because the repair
procedure is the same. Did I mention that it is going to cost around $1500.00 to fix it?
The entire engine comes out of the frame and gets completely torn down. The top end comes off, the case covers come off, the clutch, shift shaft, kick starter, flywheel and electrics all come off. Then the case is split to gain access to the gears and shift drum. The gears and shift drum now get removed and now the bent fork can be replaced or any gears needing replacement. Replace the broken gear and also any gear the broken gear meshes with.
I should also mention another problem. Most dealers will not work on bikes over 10 years old and most not longer have the parts in inventory. Talk with a dealer's mechanics and ask if they do repairs outside of the shop or who they reccommend to do the repair. Sorry for having to give you the bad news. Who ever sold the bike to you, a novice rider getting his first bike, should be addressed for a refund, (which he is not likely to do), or at least 1/2 the repair cost, (which he is also unlikely to do).
Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx
A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks! < < And the rating doesn’t cost anything!

2007 Honda Shadow VT600C won't start have new battery and plugs, and coil pack, new fuel filter, velocity stack, rebuild carb, loose choke cable to the carb.
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with your 2007 Honda Shadow VT600C. If you've already replaced the battery, spark plugs, coil pack, fuel filter, and performed maintenance tasks such as rebuilding the carburetor and checking the choke cable, there are a few more things you can try:
1. Fuel delivery: Check that the fuel pump is functioning properly and delivering fuel to the carburetor. Ensure that the fuel lines are clear and not clogged.
2. Ignition system: Verify that the ignition switch is in the "ON" position. Check the ignition fuse and wiring for any potential issues. Ensure that all connections are secure and clean.
3. Air intake and filter: Make sure the air filter is clean and not obstructed. Ensure that the velocity stack is installed correctly and not causing any air flow issues.
4. Compression test: Perform a compression test to check the engine's compression. Low compression could indicate a mechanical issue within the engine.
5. Starter motor: Check if the starter motor is engaging properly and turning over the engine. If the starter motor is not working, it may need to be replaced.
6. Wiring and electrical connections: Inspect all wiring and connections related to the ignition system, starter motor, and battery. Look for any loose or damaged wires that may be causing the starting issue.
If you've exhausted these troubleshooting steps and the problem persists, it may be best to consult a professional motorcycle mechanic or Honda dealership. They have the specialized knowledge and diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact cause of the starting problem and recommend appropriate repairs.
Please remember to exercise caution and follow proper safety procedures when working on your motorcycle.
